Singer-songwriter Rainsford has released a brand-new music video for her single 'Love Me Like You Hate Me', starring actor Shia LaBeouf and Rainsford's sister, Margaret Qualley. The 10-minute video plays like a short film with the starring actors portraying a couple experiencing the highs and lows of their relationship.

Rainsford took to her Instagram handle to share the inspiration behind the video and the songwriting/production credits. "We made a short choreographed film to represent ‘Love Me Like You Hate Me’ starring my sister @MargaretQualley and Shia LaBeouf," the singer began her note, adding, "Please watch it. It’s filled with love and pain and tenderness and rage and real pieces of my heart."

'Love Me Like You Hate Me' is written by Rainsford and Cameron Hale. Production is helmed by Luke Turner. Choreography credits are owed to Los Angeles-based dance duo JA Collective (Jordan and Aidan) and cinematography is by Natasha Braier.

In the video, with two timelines divided into a split-screen, the actors perform an interpretive dance as they go through fights and coming together moments, as well as intimate scenes. The song itself bears both tenderness and melancholy with a gentle ambient hum of synth in the beginning and swelling into an emotional ballad of electronic pop.

On Twitter, fans emotions have been stirred by the music video. "Stunning piece of art. Such beautiful expression. Love!" said a fan while another wrote, "This was really REALLY well done."

One fan shared, "This song is so heartbreakingly beautiful. This film is beautiful! I’m in tears. WOW.. just wow. Thank you."

Over on YouTube, comments for the video have been just as excited, but for others, it resonated negatively. "Wow...!!! It's amazing and the video is hypnotic, absolutely beautiful ..." said a fan. Another noted, "Beautiful yet reminds me of my last 12 years in a narcissistic relationship."

According to a press release, the 'Love Me Like You Hate Me' visual “portrays the tenderness and toxicity of a relationship, presented from the dual, and at times conflicting, perspectives of a couple,” reports NME. The statement notes, "With a gently disorientating structure, the piece builds towards an open-ended resolution that loops back on itself, returning us to where we began."

For LaBeouf fans, the 'Love Me Like You Hate Me' video marks the third official music video that the actor has starred in. LaBeouf featured in the video for Sia's 'Elastic Heart' in 2015, where he also performed interpretative dance alongside Maddie Ziegler. His first music video appearance was in 2012 for Sigur Rós' 'Fjögur píanó'.
