LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Quinn Redeker, the well-known actor from 'Days of our Lives', died at the age of 86. The heartbreaking news was revealed by his family on January 9 after the legendary star died on December 20 in Los Angeles.
He was most known for his depiction of the evil Alex Marshall in the soap opera from 1979 to 1987. He received two Soap Opera Digest Awards, including the 1983 Best Villain Soapy Award for his performance on 'Days of Our Lives'.

Redeker's role as Rex Sterling on the soap opera 'The Young and the Restless' from 1987 to 1994, is considered to be one of his biggest accomplishments. He appeared in the series as two other characters before playing the role of Sterling.
The role of Sterling helped Redeker get nominated twice for a Daytime Emmy Award for the 'Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series' category, Daily Mail reported. He won the 1989 Soapy Award for 'outstanding actor' in his supporting role in 'The Young and the Restless'.
'The Young and the Restless' penned a brief tribute, where they said, "The Y&R Family sends our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Quinn Redeker who blessed Y&R with his talents in two memorable roles."Redeker was nominated for an Academy Award for original screenplay for 1978's The Deer Hunter alongside Deric Washburn, Louis A. Garfinkle, and Michael Cimino. The film - which starred Robert De Niro and Meryl Streep - won Best Picture and Best Director at the awards.

During the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, when television was at its prime, the actor also had appearances in The Six Million Dollar Man, Starsky & Hutch, Kojak, and Barnaby Jones. Redeker is well-known for playing the dashing Captain Madison in the 1977 television film The Love Boat II.
The actor also made appearances on many TV shows, including “CSI: Miami,” “Fantasy Island,” “Starsky & Hutch,” “The Bob Newhart Show,” “Ironside,” “That Girl,” “The Six Million Dollar Man,” “Barnaby Jones,” “Adam-12,” “Bonanza” and “Sea Hunt.”
From 1958 to 1959, Redeker was wed to actress Suzanne Elizabeth Long; from 1963 to 1980, he was wed to actress Patricia Ann Graves. The couple had four kids collectively as per the New York Post. Quinn leaves behind children Brennen, Arianne, Glaen, and Quinn Jr, and two grandchildren.
