As per The Sun report, on January 3, at around 3.38 pm, police arrived at the site of an automobile accident in Venice. "Anderson initially followed the officer’s commands and sat at the northeast corner of Venice and Lincoln Boulevard for several minutes as the officer spoke with him," the LAPD said in a press release. In order to conduct a DUI investigation, officers asked for backup units. Anderson, Patrisse Cullors's cousin is said to have made an attempt to run away as those troops arrived.
'They used a taser, bodyweight, hard grips, and joint locks'
According to the LAPD, Anderson was allegedly running on the street and "exhibiting erratic behavior." Patrisse Cullors's cousin allegedly resisted, and the LAPD claimed they used a "TASER, bodyweight, hard grips, and joint locks to overcome his resistance." The Los Angeles Fire Department arrived at the site and treated Anderson after he was brought into custody and later was transferred to a hospital in Santa Monica where he apparently suffered a heart arrest and died, reported The Sun.
'Anderson was to blame for the collision'
Anderson was "hobbled" at the ankles by the officers after they handcuffed him. According to the news release, Anderson was given first aid by members of the Los Angeles Fire Department at the site "for the deployment of the Taser" before being brought to a Santa Monica hospital, as reported by LA Times. The LAPD has designated Anderson's death as an in-custody death and is currently looking into the situation. According to police reports, Anderson was to blame for the collision as stated by crash victims.
'He was a properly educated young man'
To help Anderson's young son Syncere, a GoFundMe has been established. The statement on the page reads, "Anyone who knew Keenan is aware how much he loved his son." He was adamant about raising a well-rounded and properly educated young man."
'Can’t wait to see this body cam footage'
Anderson Dominique who called Anderson her brother in a social media post says she strongly believes that LAPD killed the man. The post reads, "Anytime someone dies in police custody it’s worth taking a second look it’s worth doing everything private and to get second opinions. Keenan Anderson my brother was killed by LAPD I truly believe. Can’t wait to see this body cam footage. We see this all the time but never think it would ever happen to you."
