'Project Runway' season 18 returned to our screens on Thursday night, and fans are already calling it a 'lit season' because of the unexpected double elimination bomb the series featured.

Just a few months after revealing the winner of season 17, 'Project Runway' returned with the premiere of season 18 with all-new 16 contestants vying for the title of the ultimate fashion champion. Host Karlie Kloss and mentor Christian Siriano were back for their second season. The judges - Garcia, Brandon Maxwell and Elaine Welteroth - also took their seats in the panel watching over the designers and their work.

This season, the contestant who walks away with the winning title will receive a $250,000 grand prize from Blueprint and an opportunity to be featured in a Blueprint digital series. Apart from that, the winner will also get $50,000 complementary from Pilot FriXion Erasable Gel Ink Pens, a feature in Elle magazine, and a mentorship with the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA).

Though fans and viewers expected an elimination to take place as usual, what they were not expecting was a double elimination. This week the contestants were paired up and had to make complimentary looks for a trip to a space hotel. The winning design that the judges choose will be sold and manufactured by the Nineteenth Amendment.

Though Brittiany and Sergio were off to a rough start, they managed to come out on top with Brittany's design coming out on top as the winner. The two designs that didn't work well for the judges were Jenn and Asma's. Though fans and viewers expected either one to have been eliminated, they were stunned when the judges revealed that both Jenn and Asma were being sent home.

Taking to Twitter post the episode, fans claim that this is going to be a lit season especially because of the double-elimination that left them shocked. "The fact that they did a double elimination out the gate let’s you know they ain’t playing this season! #ProjectRunway."

"Oof!! Was not expecting that elimination on week 1!! This season is going to be INTENSE! #ProjectRunway," shared a fan. Adding to that another wrote, "Okay, #ProjectRunway season is gonna be. Love me some @ninagarcia!!!!"

"Glad the judges stepped it up this season they better drag these contestants ! #ProjectRunway," wrote a fan. While another shared, "They are coming for our wigs and necks this season!! #ProjectRunway."
