Spoilers ahead for Episode 6 'All Souls and Sadists' of 'Prodigal Son'

Last week, Malcolm (Tom Payne) realized that he must find the station wagon from a photograph of his and his father Dr. Martin (Michael Sheen) together in order to find some context and the truth behind what had happened.

The revelation came following the accidental snorting of a cocktail of drugs during the investigation of a murder.

This week's episode 'All Souls and Sadists' begins with Malcolm embarking on the search for the station wagon, but it doesn't lead him anywhere.

He is looking for a specific car that has an anchor bracket installed in the back. He then asks Dani (Aurora Perrineau) to run partials on a license plate.

The rest of the episode, interestingly, doesn't revolve around Malcolm's search and instead revolves around the murder of the week. Malcolm finds himself bonding with a young boy named Isaac (Clark Furlong) who has recently lost his father.

Malcolm sympathizes with Isaac because he sees a part of himself in him — he had also technically lost his father at a young age and knows what that can feel.

He tries to reassure Isaac that things will be alright and then offers him a lollipop in the same manner that Gil (Lou Diamond Phillips) had given him the night his father had been arrested.

Elsewhere, his sister Ainsley (Halston Sage) is adamant that she will go ahead with the exclusive interview of Dr. Martin Whitly — she is sure that it would do wonders for her career.

Their mother Jessica (Bellamy Young) forbids Ainsley to visit The Surgeon, as does Malcolm, but Ainsley knows what she wants — and she is tired of both of them trying to protect her in this shell.

When Jessica visits her in her apartment later in the episode, she tells Ainsley that she made some calls and has canceled the interview. By now, Ainsley has had enough.

She tells her that she understands her mother's worry about her well-being, but she shouldn't since "she raised a strong woman".

Jessica realizes that Ainsley's previous meeting with D.r Martin went rather well for her and she can see a certain spark in her eyes.

By the end of the episode, Dani gives Malcolm the details of the station wagon he requested, which leads him to a junkyard. When he finally finds the station with the anchor in the trunk intact, he uses a blue light over only to discover blood all over the trunk.

Is this the same station wagon from the camping trip with his father? What will he find in the next episode?

'Prodigal Son' airs on Mondays at 9 pm ET/PT on Fox.
