LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The ‘Citadel’ star Priyanka Chopra recently took to Instagram to give her fans a sneak peek of her look as she hosts ‘South Asian Excellence’ ahead of the Oscars that is to be held on Sunday, March 12. The sartorial choices of the wife of ‘The Jonas Brothers’ star Nick Jonas left her 85.5 million followers stunned as she shared her look through the social media site.

The ‘Quantico’ star’s husband Jonas, looked dapper in an unbuttoned navy blue shirt with a matching suit as he attended the pre-Oscar bash. Former ‘Miss World’ Chopra captioned her Instagram post as “South Asian Excellence at the Oscars." Chopra hosted the evening bash along with another star of South Asian heritage, ‘Never Have I Ever’ showrunner Mindy Kaling at the Paramount Studio in Los Angeles. Chopra and Kaling intended to celebrate the South Asian talents responsible for the Academy Award-nominated films like 'RRR', 'Everything Everywhere All At Once', 'Turning Red', 'All That Breathes', and 'The Elephant Whisperers'.

‘This is iconic’

Talking to ET that night, Priyanka Chopra gushed over the surge of South Asian films in the Academy awards. The ‘In My City’ hitmaker said, "I'm so grateful that we've had the ability to not just return, but do it in such an amazing capacity and be hosted by Paramount Pictures." Chopra further shared. "I mean, this is iconic. And to be able to look around me, and see my peers and colleagues that have hustled and pounded the pavement for years, and to be able to have them receive a moment that's just theirs, makes me like, cry."

When asked about what this night is for, she replied, "This night is about the nominees, and you see a lot of them coming," she explained. This'll be about giving them the stage and giving them a moment. Showcasing a little bit of the movies and championing them as the Oscars come back."

Thursday’s event also marked a date night for the youngest Jonas couple as they left their newborn at home. When asked about the difficulties she faced as a mother of a one-year-old, she croons, "She's asleep. Thank God," before further adding, "Can you imagine? No, tonight's daddy and mommy's night out."

‘I had pay parity with my male actor'

Chopra’s new spy thriller series, ‘Citadel’, which drops on Amazon Prime on April 22, is allegedly the first venture of Chopra where she has a pay parity with her male co-actor. The ‘Unfinished’ author attended the SXSW with Amazon Prime Head Jennifer Salke to discuss the pay parity of actresses in their annual conference at Texas in Austin.

The South Asian actress looked gorgeous in a blush pink fit and flare scoop-necked dress and ivory pointed pumps. The entertainment industry veteran after divulging she is being paid equally as her male co-star Richard Madden added, “I’ve been working in the entertainment industry for 22 years. I have done about 70-plus features and two TV shows." She reinforced, “When I did Citadel, I had pay parity with my male actor for the first time in 22 years.”

She added jokingly, “I’m laughing about this, but it’s kind of nuts”. The UNICEF ambassador added, “I put in the same amount of investment and work, but I get paid much less. But the ease in which Amazon Studios said, "That’s what you deserve, you are co-leads, that’s just fair," and I was like, "You’re right, it’s fair.""
