'Pokemon Journeys: The Series': Release date, plot, voice cast and all you need to know about the animated show on Netflix

Most of us grew up watching the 'Pokemon' series, singing that theme song and of course, fawning over Pikachu, Ash's adorable electric Pokemon who could give quite a thrashing if he wanted. The Pokeverse is a vast and fertile space, enough for the creators to create more ideas, storylines and Pokemons of course, to keep the fans going for another fifty years at least. Season 23 of the iconic series that defined our childhoods is coming to Netflix, and many fans are eager to know what happens to Ash and Pikachu. Turns out, Ash has a new friend, this time. Well, Ash has had a lot of close friends throughout the series, including Brock, Misty and May, so it will be fun to see what his new friend Goh will bring to the show.

Release date

The first 12 episodes of 'Pokemon Journeys: The Series' will release on Netflix on June 12 and additional new episodes will be added quarterly. 

Plot

The synopsis according to Netflix: Pokémon Trainer Ash Ketchum has a new plan: see the world! But first, he and his partner Pikachu are headed to the opening of the Cerise Laboratory, a research facility dedicated to uncovering the mysteries of Pokémon in every region. Ash meets Goh, another boy with boundless curiosity about Pokémon, and both are overjoyed when Professor Cerise asks them to become official research fellows. With Ash as determined as ever to become a Pokémon Master, and Goh aiming to catch one of every Pokémon (including the Mythical Mew), our heroes are in for adventure and excitement as they explore the wide world of Pokémon!

Voice cast

Ash Ketchum will be voiced by Sarah Natochenny, who has dubbed for animated shows like 'Robin Hood: Mischief In Sherwood' and 'World Of Winx'. Goh will be voiced by Zeno Robinson.
