Playboi Carti's cryptic pics titled ‘Narcissist’ has fans wondering if it's an album
Playboi Carti is only two albums old and yet is one of the hottest rappers from the new school hip-hop. The rapper, who will soon be featured on Kanye West’s new album ‘Donda’, is now all set to drop his latest project. The Atlanta native made a big announcement on Monday, August 23, while sharing multiple pictures sending his loyal fans into a tizzy.
The 24-year-old hip-hop artist revealed the name of his new project in the caption while sharing a slide of aesthetically rich photos on his official Instagram account. The revelation comes a day after the rapper completely wiped off his personal profile on the app where Carti enjoys more than six million followers. The announcement left the social media users in confusion as they could not decide whether his new project was an album or a clothing line.

Playboi Carti announces ‘Narcissist’
While sharing the mysterious pictures, Playboi Carti shared the release date i.e. September 13. He captioned the only post on his Instagram as, “NARCISSIST 09/13/21.” The ‘Magnolia’ hitmaker did not shed any further details on the project. The new post came with Carti posing in an all-black outfit that seemed heavily inspired by Kanye West’s viral Balenciaga outfit from ‘Donda’s listening event a few days ago. Carti’s new pictures also included him wearing a helmet, hoodies and jackets. One of the pictures also included a mannequin with sewing machine tables which further made it difficult for the Internet to decipher what exactly ‘Narcissist’ was.
The title ‘Narcissist’ apparently comes from Carti’s fallout with his former rapper girlfriend Iggy Azalea when the latter had dubbed him with the same title after a holiday spat. It was reported that Iggy had apparently caught Carti cheating on her which she had revealed on social media platforms. Iggy had also claimed that Carti was absent while she gave birth to their son adding that he was playing PlayStation with Lil Uzi Vert during her scheduled C-section. On the work front, Carti’s last album ‘Whole Lotta Red’ was dropped in December 2020. According to Crack Magazine, Playboi Carti had also given a hint about exploring different fields in May 2020 saying, “At a certain point, I would like to be doing other things.” He continued, “I’ll always be into music, but I just want to give out and show the world everything I’m capable of while I have that spotlight on me” concluding, “I just want to take advantage of everything and then when it’s time to lay down, it’s time to lay down.”
‘Streets saying Carti dropping a clothing line not music’
Social media users thronged Twitter as soon as Carti made his comeback on Instagram with the big announcement. With an intention to solve the mystery behind the post, one user stated, “How do we know its music tho, I've heard people saying clothing brand.” Whereas, another user stated, “Nowhere did he say it was music man yall just be putting words in people’s mouths. Dont give people hope for something that might not come until its confirmed.” And, another stated, “We know Carti that s**t ain't dropping until 2022.”
The next one posted, “It will be clothes I doubt he drops a song on a Monday just doesn’t make sense really.” Meanwhile, one posted, “Streets saying carti dropping a clothing line not music but idk let’s see what happens.” Another got excited with the announcement and tweeted, “Carti is already getting my birthday present ready, this better be an album.” And, one shared, “Carti dropping an album called narcissist? S**t maybe i don’t have depression.” While one user concluded, “So "narcissist" that carti is dropping is either a clothing line or a song/album. I think its finna be a clothing line idk tho.”
