David Gilmour, the guitarist of the legendary psychedelic rock group Pink Floyd, has returned with his first solo song in five years. However, this time, it has been released via an unusual format: the audiobook. The song is a family effort. The legendary axeman is vocally and instrumentally joined by his daughter Romany and the track comes off the audiobook version of his wife Polly Samson's novel 'A Theatre for Dreamers'. The recording also features music Gilmour wrote for the coming-of-age story to accompany Samson’s narration. Backed by violin and harp, Gilmour lets out all the guitar twangs and buzz as he flourishes and glides his fingers across the strings. 'Yes, I Have Ghosts' juxtaposes the eeriness of ghostly storytelling with breezy folk-inspired music as Gilmour sings lines like, "Yes, I have ghosts, not all of them dead. Making dust of my dreams, spinning round and around, around in my head."

We also have to mention the stunning vocal harmony between the father and daughter duo in the song. Gilmour and Romany's voices blend both smoothly and sweetly and we hope to hear more of their collaborating in the future. Speaking of his wife's work and the new song, Gilmour said in a statement, “Polly’s vivid and poetic writing, coupled with her very natural narration voice, made joining forces to produce the audio version of 'A Theatre for Dreamers' a fantastic and fulfilling experience,” reports Rolling Stone. He continued, “The audiobook format has so much untapped potential, and I am surprised more musicians have not creatively collaborated with authors, narrators and audiobook producers in this way before. The two worlds seem to seamlessly link, and music can really help to bring audiobooks to life in unexpected new ways."

"We were also lucky to have our daughter Romany in lockdown with us to contribute harp and additional vocals. I am really pleased and proud of how Polly’s words and my music have entwined in this audio version of A Theatre for Dreamers," Gilmour added. Gilmour's last solo project was the 2015 album 'Rattle that Lock', which landed at the No 1 slot on the UK Album Albums Chart and No 5 on the Billboard 200.
