American actress Halle Berry is known for being a fitness enthusiast and for constantly inspiring people to become a fitter version of themselves. Berry credits longtime trainer Peter Lee Thomas with keeping her accountable and making exercise fun, calling him her "secret weapon." When Thomas first learned of Berry's age, he was "absolutely shellshocked" because he felt she had the discipline and athleticism of a 25-year-old.

The 55-year-old fitness enthusiast founded Re-spin, a health, wellness, and spirituality platform where Thomas acts as a fitness trainer. Berry and Thomas later partnered with FitOn App, a free digital fitness platform with workouts guided by celebrity trainers. Through this collaboration, the duo launched a series of home workouts including martial arts-inspired exercises and plyo for free.

"I love the diversity of the app with both its trainers and the variety of the workouts available. People can take everything from cardio to abs to grounded martial arts flows with me, along with mobility, HIIT, agility, and more with other Re-spin trainers," Berry told InStyle. "Some days I'd work on strength and cardio and others I'd do yoga and stretching, all while I did a few hours of martial arts training each day. For me, it's been important not to overstress my body. Taking cold hot showers has been a good recovery ritual," she added.

"I was a gymnast growing up and was physically active at a young age. At 22, I was diagnosed with diabetes and it became critical for me to manage my nutrition and diet. It really transformed my life and taught me how valuable my body is. During quarantine, I've been focusing a lot on self-care and started working out at home," revealed the martial arts devotee.

The award-winning actress added, "I've also found that taking care of my mental health has been crucial during these odd times. I just launched my journal on Joy at Re-spin which is part of my bedtime routine. It is a space to record memories that make you smile and helps me focus on positivity and gratitude. Also reading self-help books on ways to stay grounded and centered during this time has been widely helpful and inspirational."

Who is Peter Lee Thomas?

Peter Lee Thomas is a celebrity trainer, fight coordinator, martial artist, and nutrition specialist. He focuses on a highly functional and toned body while intermixing a unique blend of styles from bodyweight training, boxing, and martial arts movements, along with yoga and mobility.

Thomas holds a full instructor ranking in Muay Thai under Master Ajarn Surachai Sirisute, founder of the Thai Boxing Association USA. He holds a Silver Glove in Boxe Francaise Savate under Professor Nicolas Saignac and won the 2006 National Kickboxing Championships. In addition, he holds credentials in Filipino Kali, Silat, and Krav Maga.

"In martial arts, we were taught at a young age to teach one another and teach the younger classmates. I always felt that by teaching, you learn something twice. I love to see someone retain something, especially an empowering life skill set like martial arts. Personal training was a natural progression that coincided with my martial arts practice. I decided to professionally train others when I was simultaneously competing as a fighter. It was my way of giving back and perpetuating the teachings of all of my teachers, trainers, and coaches. I wholeheartedly believe that our service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on planet Earth. Each one, teach one," he told Re-spin.

"I come from a rough upbringing surrounded by drugs and abuse and have accomplished the unimaginable. Martial arts saved me," Thomas revealed. On being asked to give advice to people discovering fitness, he said, "Don't beat yourself up. Small victories add up, take your time, do it right, find something that you resonate with."

"Happiest of birthdays and many more returns to this extraordinary woman who has enlightened and inspired me on so many levels. You're a blessing to me and so many. Continue to shine and illuminate on your path - May the road of life continue to rise up to meet your wheels. Much love, always - P [red heart emoji]," read Thomas' birthday post for Berry.

"Having all of the decadent seasonal foods is great, and I personally like to balance that out with fitness. Enjoy yourself, but also nourish your body and mental health by gifting yourself good workouts and some healthy foods throughout the holidays," Thomas told Hollywood Life. "When you fast, your insulin levels are lower, which inhibits fat storage. And studies suggest that your growth hormone sharply increases during the fasting period. This speeds up healing of the body and muscle repair, and it helps to boost the metabolism, build muscle, burn fat, and lessen inflammation," he added.

The fitness trainer also has his own app called the 'PLT App' where he provides clients with fitness programs, fight camps, monthly workouts, guides and tips, eating schedules, and posts videos. The app also allows you to ask him questions, track your progress and collect health data. He promotes gaining muscle and getting a leaner, more flexible body.

Recently, Berry shared images with Thomas where they can be seen having fun while skateboarding. "...you already know what day it is! #FitnessFriday.... and @peterleethomas and I are BACK with another Fitness Friday classic. [flexed biceps emoji] Head over to @respin to check out this week’s workout and let us know how many reps you get in today!! Always work to be the best version of yourself while landing on two feet.. or four wheels [grinning face with sweat emoji] #respinyourfit," read one post while another said, "It's important to encourage yourself and others throughout your fitness journey. @peterleethomas and I encourage you to #respinyourfit with @respin this #FitnessFriday. Let's get moving!"
