LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Beating Paul Rudd, Chris Evans has become People magazine's 'Sexiest Man Alive'. The selection was announced on Monday night, November 7, on Stephen Colbert's late night show and also on the magazine's website. "My mom will be so happy," Evans, 41, was quoted as saying by People. "She's proud of everything I do but this is something she can really brag about."

Evans joked in his interview that the title would only lead to being teased by his friends, "Really this will just be a point of bullying. It's ripe for harassment." Among those who could contribute to the teasing are co-stars and previous 'Sexiest Man Alive' winners like Paul Rudd, Ryan Reynolds and Chris Hemsworth. Other honorees in the past were John Legend, Dwayne Johnson, Idris Elba, Adam Levine, Richard Gere, Channing Tatum and David Beckham.

Evans accepted the award remotely after being introduced by Dwayne Johnson, 50, a former title holder. He went on to ask Evans to say something sexy after receiving the award. "Go vote tomorrow," Evans replied, ahead of the US midterm elections on Tuesday, November 8. 

Paul Rudd fans, however, did not take kindly to the mantle being passed to Evans. "Honestly? Paul Rudd until infinity. Nothing against these other sexy sexy men, but you just don’t get sexier than Paul Rudd," one user wrote on Twitter. "chris evans being named people’s sexiest man alive when it should actually be paul rudd every year in a row until further notice," another fan wrote. One user said, "they should consider simply renewing paul rudd’s sexiest man alive title indefinitely".

"can’t believe paul rudd isn’t people’s sexiest man alive again. he is in my heart. goodnight," one user wrote, while another said, "Paul Rudd is sill the most valid sexiest man alive". "end of an era …. thank u for your service paul rudd," one said.
