'So disrespectful!' Oscars 2023 'In Memoriam' segment excludes Anne Heche and Leslie Jordan among others
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The 'In Memoriam’ list of the Oscars has attracted bad press yet again. The most sensitive segment of the Oscars has faced accusations of missing important names almost every year. This was the case during the 95th Academy Awards, held on Sunday, March 12, as well.
This year, the Academy was slammed for missing Anne Heche, Tom Sizemore, Leslie Jordan and Tony Sirico among others. The segment started with John Travolta who became emotional while paying tribute to his 'Grease' co-star, Olivia Newton-John. “They’ve made us smile, and became dear friends who we will always remain hopelessly devoted to,” said the Hollywood veteran. He also paid a tribute to his friend Kirstie Alley.

The segment was accompanied by a heartfelt musical tribute by Lenny Kravitz, who played 'Calling All Angels'. After the conclusion of the segment on-stage, the Academy has directed viewers to check the website for the complete list, which however, could not pacify the audience.
Who were missing from the 'In Memoriam' list?
Many names, including Charlbi Dean’s were omitted. Dean played the lead in ‘Triangle of Sadness’, a movie nominated for three Academy Awards this year, including Best Picture. The talented actress died in August 2022 from bacterial sepsis.
Another important name missing from the list was Anne Heche. Heche died in a fatal car crash in August 2022. She wasin a coma for a week before she was declared brain dead following which the actress’s organs were donated. Leslie Jordan, who was known for 'Call me Kat' and died in October, 2022, was also missing from the tributes.
Tony Sirico and Paul Sorvino of 'Goodfellas' were conspicuously missing from the lost. While Sorvino appeared in many hit productions including ‘Romeo + Juliet’, Woody Allen-veteran Sirico was known for ‘The Sopranos’ and ‘Gotti’.
‘Saving Private Ryan’ star Tom Sizemore and ‘Baretta’ star Robert Blake were also excluded from the list. However, both of them died in March, prior to the run-up to the Oscars.
'Really Oscars ??'
Fans made it clear they were not happy at all on social media. One enraged fan wrote, "Really Oscar’s ?? You don’t include Paul Sorvino in the ‘ In Memoriam ? I am glad you include Ray Liotta but WTF You have a Quota on Goodfellas or Italians ?? SHAME ON YOU This is disgusting and wrong Total Loser Punk move #Oscars." Another fan wrote, "I couldn’t agree more. Too many popular and important people were left for the QR code at the end so disrespectful of artists who we grew up with." Another fan said, "Can anyone explain why this happens every year? Oscars In Memoriam Segment Missing Paul Sorvino, Anne Heche, Tom Sizemore, Leslie Jordan and Charlbi Dean From Oscar-Nominated ‘Triangle Of Sadness’?" A fan of Heche wrote, "Because The Academy left her out of their #InMemoriam; over 30 feature films, half of which were studio films. #AnneHeche, one of the most daring actors and a true trailblazer. #Oscars2023 #AcademyAwards2023."
