Oscars 2020 Red Carpet: Janelle Monáe sparkles in gown with 168k crystals and fans call it a tribute to Prince
The most-awaited night is finally here! The stars shine their brightest at the red carpet of the Oscars and the 92nd Annual Academy Awards is no exception.
Here's one for starters. Janelle Monáe showed up in one of the most stunning outfits of the night. The retro-futuristic American singer, songwriter, rapper, actress, and producer, walked the red carpet in a hooded, long-sleeved silver gown, studded with a million rhinestones and sparkled like a celestial body. The custom A-line creation was constructed with over 168,000 Swarovski crystals.
Fans loved her gorgeous look and are calling her the 'best dressed' celebrity of the evening. And if you haven't noticed, the artist's outfit for the night is sort of a tribute to Prince's Oscar red carpet look from 35 years ago. A fan rightly pointed out, "Janelle Monáe paying tribute to Prince’s Purple Rain Oscar win 35 years ago #Oscars"
Monáe wore an exclusive Ralph Lauren design which apparently took 600 hours to make. Here's a comment from a fan, "#JanelleMonae's striking @RalphLauren gown on the #Oscars red carpet took 600 hours to make. #oscarsredcarpet #AcademyAwards"
One fan is all gaga about her look and says, "#Oscars #Oscars2020 Everybody shut up and look at these pictures of Janelle Monáe." Another fan, drooling over her look and said, "Janelle Monáe is so beautiful My goodness😍 #oscars #Oscars2020"
"Always fantastic. #JanelleMonáe #Oscars", says another fan.
For those who are unaware of Monáe's style statement, her go-to fashion is her tuxedo wardrobe, which reminds us of dandyism. But for the big night, she chose to shed that skin and step into this ethereal looking outfit and turn heads.
Monáe recently co-starred in the biographical drama, 'Harriet', along with Cynthia Erivo, Leslie Odom Jr., Joe Alwyn, and more. She also voiced the character of Peg in Disney's animation reboot 'Lady and The Tramp'.
