'Orange Is The New Black' final season's first look sees cast singing along to opening credits theme song

The series is based on Piper Kerman's memoir of the same name and follows Piper Chapman as she is sent to prison to serve a decade-long sentence for drug trafficking

Netflix has announced the premiere date for the final season of 'Orange Is The New Black' to be July 26, 2019. The online streaming service also offered a first look at life inside Litchfield.

In the upcoming season, audiences will get to see Piper (played by Taylor Schilling) struggle with life outside the prison, and the friendship Taystee and Cindy share as she faces a life sentence. But these are only two of the stories from the inmates at Litchfield. In the teaser video, the cast can be seen singing the theme to the opening credits — Regina Spektor's 'You've Got Time'.

Created by Jenji Kohan, 'Orange Is The New Black' has received 19 nominations and won four Emmys since the time it first premiered in 2013. This includes two wins for Uzo Aduba in 2014 and 2015. It was first announced in October that the seventh season would be the last for the comedy series.

The series is based on Piper Kerman's memoir of the same name and follows Piper Chapman as she is sent to prison to serve a decade-long sentence for drug trafficking. The series follows her trials and tribulations in the prison and how her upper-class upbringing and perspective is challenged by the women.

'Orange Is the New Black' is the first series to win Emmy nominations in both comedy and drama categories. It has also received six Golden Globe Award nominations, six Writers Guild of America Award nominations, a Producers Guild of America Award, an American Film Institute Award and a Peabody Award.

But is the seventh season really the final season? Barely a month after the announcement that the series is going have a final season, there was talk of a sequel. Producers were "already in discussions" for a "potential sequel" to the Emmy-winning Netflix series

"We're really proud of the long run that 'Orange Is the New Black' had," Lionsgate TV Group chairman Kevin Beggs was reported saying. “It remains one of Netflix’s most-watched shows. We’re ending on a high note."

He added, "Keep in mind we own that series and will be distributing it for years to come. We're already in discussions and, when the timing is right, we'll talk further with [writer] Jenji [Kohan] about a potential sequel."
