Opera soprano Danielle de Niese describes Meghan Markle's claims of racism in UK 'very disturbing'
LONDON, UK: Danielle de Niese disagreed with Meghan Markle's claims abour racism in the UK and said that she finds them "very disturbing". The Opera diva, Niese, who is also a woman of color married to an upper-class British family, revealed that she was disturbed by the Duchess Sussex's allegations during her interview with Oprah Winfrey. “What I find strange is getting your home country of America to say that the entire country of Britain is racist… I find that very disturbing," she reportedly said. De Neise's husband is Gus Christie, chairman of the Glyndebourne Opera Festival.
“That’s not to say racism isn’t everywhere, because it is, but I don’t think you can camouflage everyone with the same brush. Saying that a whole community of people is racist hasn’t been my experience," Niese told DailyMail. The 43-year-old soprano was raised in Australia before moving to the US with her family as a teenager. Her parents are from Sri Lanka and have mixed European ancestry. Currently, she serves as chatelaine of the South Downs estate in East Sussex and considers Britain as her home.

'It would be unsurvivable': Prince Harry says he and Meghan will NEVER move back to the UK
Prince Harry claims he and Meghan Markle were 'BETTER’ at royal work than Charles, William and Kate
Slamming Prince Harry and Meghan's allegations of racism in the royal family, which the Duke Sussex backtracked on later, she said that Meghan should have taken her example. “I am a mixed race person and I married a man who is not part of the royal family but is still part of a great institution. I made it my goal to support my husband and learn more about the people around me," she said, adding, “I’ve put a lot of effort into finding out what’s happening here. There were people who tried to imply that I was ‘groundbreaking,’ but I didn’t like that because it feeds the ego."
Niese further stated, “When Meghan and Harry first became public, everyone was super happy for them. I feel like we’ll never really know why it went wrong. It’s a complex story."
