'It would be unsurvivable': Prince Harry says he and Meghan will NEVER move back to the UK
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Prince Harry claimed on Monday, January 9, that he and his wife Meghan Markle will never move back to the UK or become full-time working members of the royal family again as he believes that the British press would make things "unsurvivable" for him and his young family. The statement comes mere hours after he hinted that the couple will never renounce their official titles.
In his latest interview to promote his new memoir ‘Spare’, the Duke of Sussex, 38, told 'Gold Morning America' host Michael Strahan that he "doesn't think it's ever going to be possible" for his family to return to his home country on a permanent basis. Harry targeted the British news media for being the primary reason behind his family refusing to move back to Britain. "I don't think that even if there was an agreement or an arrangement between me and my family there's that third party [the British press] that's going to do everything they can to make sure that that isn't possible, not stopping us from going back but making it unsurvivable," he said, according to the DailyMail.

Harry and Markle, 41, relocated in early 2020, from Britain to California, which was dubbed 'Megxit', as per Yahoo!. And since early 2021, the couple has been raising their two children, three-year-old son Archie and 19-month-old daughter Lilibet, in a $14.65 million mansion in Montecito. The luxury home is notably thousands of miles away from the Duke's family. However, while Harry has admitted to never making a return to live full-time in the UK or retaining his royal life, he has also hinted that he and his wife will never give up their official titles.
When inquired about if Harry would be renouncing his royal title along with Meghan which they have continued to use despite not working at royal duties, the Duke replied: "What difference would that make?" In a recent interview with '60 Minutes', host Anderson Cooper went on to raise another question concerning the ongoing rift with the royal family: "One of the criticisms that you've received is that okay, fine, you wanna move to California, you wanna step back from the institutional role. Why be so public? Why reveal conversations you've had with your father or with your brother? You say you tried to do this privately." Harry said in response: "Every single time I've tried to do it privately there have been briefings and leakings and planting of stories against me and my wife. You know, the family motto is never complain, never explain. But it's just a motto. And it doesn't really hold."
On January 8, 2020, the royal couple released a statement announcing that they were going to step back from their royal duties. "We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen," read the statement, shared on their official Instagram account. The post sparked public outrage with many insisting that the pair couldn't "be one foot in, one foot out." A December poll revealed that 98 percent of people want the Sussexes to be stripped of their royal titles and left to live as normal members of the public.
