LONDON, ENGLAND: Royal author Omid Scobie has come up with some of the reasons behind King Charles's shocking decision to ask Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to vacate the Frogmore cottage. He claims that the royal couple will be concerned about Archie and Lilibet's security while in the UK, as this was the only "remaining space that meets the family of four's security needs when visiting."

Scobie also claims, "Though the Sussexes travel with their own private security team, royal protection officers provide a level of security – including access to essential intelligence information – that is already deemed necessary for other members of the Royal Family." Meanwhile, an insider told Scobie, "It all feels very final and like a cruel punishment. It's like [the family] want to cut them out of the picture for good. Harry and Meghan have until early summer to vacate."

What are the claims of Omid Scobie?

Scobie believes that "Prince Harry has been dealt a crushing blow" by his father, King Charles. He adds, "At a time when communication between Harry and his family has reached an all-time low, further details provided to the couple by the institution have been scant. The property, they were told, is needed for someone else. It’s news, sources tell me, that has left Harry and Meghan stunned, and at least two members of the Royal Family "appalled"," as per Yahoo! The royal enthusiast also noted, "The decision on the Sussexes’ home is a clear sign of just how sour relations between the King and his son have become. Given the timing of the news, it’s hard not to view it as a response to his son’s literary tell-all, which is said to have left the monarch “spitting mad”."

Scobie also mentioned, “Harry and Meghan have until early summer to vacate. Initially they were given just weeks, but now they have at least until after the coronation. (No word yet on whether the couple will be attending said coronation – invites aren’t being sent to its 2,000 guests until next week)." The journalist also claimed, "The loss of Frogmore Cottage means that the Sussexes will soon be without a base in the country which provides the level of home security senior members of the Royal Family have access to. No alternative accommodation has been offered." Scobie also indicated how Prince Williams had an eye on the cottage. He explained, "Last summer, the Prince William briefly had his eyes on his brother’s seven-bedroom home before choosing the nearby Adelaide Cottage for his family". A source said William “had questions” about whether Harry and Meghan’s home could be an option. “The optics would have been terrible though", they added.

Why did King Charles evict Prince Harry and Meghan?

"I think the King is just fed up with the entire situation,” says a royal source. Another reason Scobie is claiming King Charles is planning to give it to Prince Andrew. "The late Queen’s disgraced son — who was stripped of his royal titles and patronages amid underage sex abuse allegations by Jeffrey Epstein survivor Virginia Giuffre (which the Prince has denied) — was last week offered the keys to Frogmore by King Charles after being warned he must downsize from his Royal Lodge mansion by August." Scobie also explained, "Andrew has not yet given an answer to the offer, but with King Charles ending his annual £249,000 grant in April, it has become abundantly clear that he can no longer afford to live in Royal Lodge without the additional funding from the £652.8M Duchy of Lancaster Fund, also known as the Privy Purse." Further, "an insider confirms that it was Charles who personally offered Frogmore to his brother. The King is also reportedly covering the cost of private, unarmed security for Andrew, estimated to be close to £3M a year."

Meanwhile, Royal palace confidential Rebecca English stated to Daily Mail, "Charles is not just a father, he is a king." She also wrote, "I know from numerous conversations with royal insiders in recent months that he feels he owes it to his country to act as a monarch, regardless of the repetitive family drama. Which is why, as I understand it, he has backed bold moves to 'evict' his son and his family from their Frogmore Cottage home."

Rebecca also mentioned, "It is a risky decision and one that the Sussexes' coterie of media defenders have already seized upon in their efforts to paint the duke and duchess as victims of a protectionist and remorseless institution (although how they square this with the fact the pontificating couple have made clear they see their future in the US, thereby leaving an entire house empty for more than 11 months of the year, is anyone's guess). There is no doubt that the timing of the move – days after the publication of Harry's controversial and damning memoir, Spare – appears to suggest it was an act of retribution. And there are certainly many in the royal household who will smile with satisfaction at seeing the back of the 'disloyal duo', as some refer to them."

Further, the confidential also explained, "The Royal Family, you see, have something of a housing crisis. Not the kind of crisis faced by so many of the king's subjects, it has to be said. More the fact that they have a surfeit of grand houses and not enough people to justify their existence as lavish private homes – except, oddly, for Windsor, which is proving to be a bit of a bottleneck. The problem has been sparked by the Prince and Princess of Wales's decision to move their family out of their substantial Kensington Palace apartment and onto the Royal Family's Berkshire estate."

Rebecca also proposed an alternative for their stay, "They could stay with family or friends but, let's be honest, they have fallen out with so many people that this isn't even a realistic option on the table. It begs the question as to whether Charles will ever see his grandchildren again. More immediately, it also now gives Harry and Meghan the perfect excuse not to attend the coronation. For while they have apparently been given until early summer to pack up their stuff and move out, it's not as if the welcome mat is being dusted off."

'They don’t need a house standing empty to do it'

The Internet quickly reacted to Scobie's revelation. A user said," There are plenty of suites in Windsor Castle. They visit once every couple of years, weddings, funerals and coronations, they don’t need a house standing empty to do it. Think of it as your parents turning your bedroom into a study when you leave home."  Another added, I'm sure Meghan and Harry will not shed any tears about Frogmore! They have a fabulous home and beautiful life in California." "Charles gave the house to Andrew??? I didn't know I could hate him more but here we are ," read a tweet. Another said, "Them two don’t live in the UK anymore. Andrew is effectively homeless. Why should HM not help his little brother with shelter. That is what their parents would have wanted so good on him." "We have always known the plan is to make it impossible for them to come back to the UK because that makes it awfully obvious how lacking the others are," added a user.

Another asked, "Omid how often do they actually visit the UK though ? To visit family ? Last time they was over it was to use frogmore cottage for theor own personal work commitments rather than actually visiting the family, we're led to believe they turned down an offer to visit HMTQ." A tweet read, "Nah, it's not cruel. It's what to be expected when you consistently bash and lie about those same people that afforded you the privilege and home." A user wrote, "Buckingham Palace has 775 rooms; only staff rooms and offices are currently in use. They must be able to find rooms they like there, during their brief infrequent visits. It’ll be interesting to see who is getting Royal Lodge." "Not an eviction, that’s very misleading. They have made their home and base in America, it does not make sense to retain Frogmore for their use solely," said another.
