'Want U Around': Omar Apollo drops single featuring Ruel, fans say 'it will be on repeat until further notice'

'Want U Around' is the fourth single from his forthcoming project, 'Apolonio', with a scheduled release date for this Friday

R&B singer-songwriter Omar Apollo has dropped a brand-new single on Monday, October 12 which fans are already calling his "best song." Titled 'Want U Around', the new song features a guest appearance by British-Australian singer Ruel.

Taking to his social media, the 23-year-old singer initially announced, "New song want u around is outtttt," on Twitter. Apollo then shared a link to stream the track which you can access here.



 

The singer has also included the official audio up on YouTube along with a looped clip of him riding his bike in a beautiful natural location to complement the sweet sounds of his new track. You can watch it below.

News of the track quickly began to trend online after the announcement and even Apollo found himself surprised by its popularity with the tweet: "Trending in brazil too wtf."



 

Many fans called the Apollo-Ruel collaboration "SO GOOD" in all caps while others labeled it as Apollo's "best song."



 



 

Another fan deemed it "a masterpiece." An excited fan wrote, "U SNAPPED KINGS." One fan joked, "Mariah carey is no where to be found after those high notes."



 



 



 



 

After Listening to 'Want U Around', we are inclined to agree with such statements. Apollo and Ruel's vocals are a match made in heaven and the music strikes all the right chords for R&B lovers. Over on YouTube, fans have especially shared their love for the vocals. "This is what I call an eargasm," wrote a fan. Referring to the portion of the song when Ruel joins in to harmonize, one fan said, "I physically lost oxygen when i heard ruel's vocals." Another fan shared, "This will be on repeat until further notice."

According to NME, Apollo spoke about 'Want U Around' in a statement. He said it "is about missing someone who doesn’t feel the same way." Apollo added, "After you try everything and it’s still not enough, you know you should give up on that person - but something holds you back from giving up on the idea of being together one day."

‘Want U Around’ is the fourth single from his forthcoming project, ‘Apolonio’, with a scheduled release date for this Friday (October 16). The new project also includes the previously released songs 'Kamikaze', 'Stayback', and 'Dos Uno Nueve', and another collaborative track titled 'Hey Boy' with Kali Uchis.

Along with 'Apolonio', the singer has also revealed he is getting an exclusive concert documentary, filmed at Prince’s iconic Paisley Park in Minneapolis. The documentary will follow his recording and rehearsal at the facilities ahead of his October 27 performance at the compound. The documentary will be released the next day.
