Actor Nick Cordero's wife Amanda Kloots has shared that the 41-year-old is bleeding internally and his blood count dropped “really, really low”. Kloots appeared virtually on ‘CBS This Morning’ on Thursday, April 30, and she gave an update about her husband’s recovery. Cordero's leg had to be amputated on April 18 post coronavirus complications.

Kloots, who shares 10-month-old son Elvis Eduardo with the ‘Mob Town’ star, also said that she is hopeful Cordero "will wake up" from a medically induced coma despite facing a lot of unexpected turns in his recovery. "Today was supposed to be putting in a trach (breathing tube) and a feeding tube," Kloots said while speaking to anchor Gayle King over video chat.

"Unfortunately, this morning, his blood count was really, really low. Low blood count can mean that he’s internally bleeding from somewhere, so now we have to wait,” she revealed.

Continuing, the Broadway star’s wife said that she remains positive and hopeful about Cordero's health since he has got an overwhelming amount of support from their family, friends, and participants of the #WakeUpNick social media movement. “I feel like there’s an army of people behind him — behind us — and I just believe. I get chills saying it. I just believe that he will wake up,” Kloots stated.

She added: “Nick would love this. When he hears that everyone is playing his song every day and praying for him... he won't believe it. I go to the hospital every day. I stand outside of Cedars, I play Nick's songs and I cheer him on from outside Cedars every day."

This comes soon after Cordero got an infection in his lungs that spread to his blood, causing him to go into "a little bit of a septic shock" after he developed a fever. Kloots shared with her fans and followers on Instagram on April 28 that doctors have since "went in and completely clean out his lungs” and gave him "a really strong antibiotic to help him with the infection in his lungs."

In her update, Kloots also shared that the latest complication came out of nowhere since Cordero showed “two days of really great progress”. “We had kind of a bit of a rough day yesterday. This kind of came out of nowhere after two days of really great progress,” the fitness instructor said in the video posted on her social media page, adding: “We kind of just wait and see. He is throwing us through some loops, that’s for sure.”

As previously reported, doctors were planning to take Cordero off the ventilator and "slowly reducing his medication and the machines he’s on”. However, they had to stop after the ‘Rock of Ages’ star got a fever that caused his blood pressure to drop slightly.

“Unfortunately, they are not able to remove the ventilator today and put the trach in,” Kloots had mentioned as she added Cordero is now "back on a little bit of blood pressure medication" that he had earlier stopped taking as doctors try "to just really make sure that this fever doesn't really go anywhere, get out of control."

Cordero was admitted to the intensive care unit at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, on March 31. Initially, he was misdiagnosed with pneumonia. However, later he tested positive for the coronavirus.
