'Hero Mask' season 2: Release date, plot, cast, trailer and everything you need to know about Netflix's anime police drama
Produced by Netflix, Japanese anime series 'Hero Mask', is all set to showcase its second season this August. Animated by the famed Japanese animation studio, Pierrot, the police drama opened to mixed reviews last December and garnered a 67% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Netflix renewed the anime for a second season and here's what we know about season two of 'Hero Mask' so far.

Plot
The show is a blend of action, crime, and supernatural factors. Set in London, 'Hero Mask' follows a hot-headed police officer, James Blood, who is part of the Special Service of Crime (SSC) division within the Capital Police Department. He teams up with an attorney, Sarah Sinclair and together, the two find themselves in the middle of a conspiracy that sees presumed dead prisoners wearing masks that gives them supernatural abilities.
Netflix's logline reads: "After a series of mysterious deaths, Crown prosecutor Sarah Sinclair and SSC agent James Blood discover a conspiracy surrounding uncanny new bio-masks."
The official site hints that the story will be about James' attempt to uncover the mystery behind the mask and in the journey, he encounters new characters who are instrumental parts of the puzzle.
Cast
James Blood is voiced by Yasuyuki Kase ('Naruto' and 'Attack on Titan') while Yuko Kaida ('Sengoku Basara' and 'Ikki Tousen') voices Sarah Sinclair. The other voice artistes include Junpei Morita, Kentaro Takano, Kōki Uchiyama, Yuzuru Aoyama, Takayuki Sugō, Yutaka Nakano, Haruka Shibuya, and Tomoyuki Shimura.

'Hero Mask' season two is written and directed by Hiroyasu Aoki and animated by Studio Pierrot. Takahisa Katagiri provides the character designs for the series.

The new season sees more action and a car chase highlighted in the series trailer. The minute-and-44-second clip also gives a glimpse of the new characters who will be part of the police drama in the upcoming season. Details about a group of scientists analyzing a new substance are shown. It remains to be seen if a new plot point is introduced regarding this mysterious substance.

Talking about the new season on the show's site, character designer Takaaki Katagiri said: " Everyone is a unique character and this season, there are new highlights for each character."
