One of the things that fans were most curious about was why Nell Jones ((Renée Felice Smith) is back to working with Hetty (Linda Hunt) again despite having resigned. The reason has something to do with Hetty's little misadventure. So this provides Nell with a chance to working with her team again. This also gives her a space to grow and boost her confidence, which will definitely influence her relationship with Eric. However, this season, the attention, at least in terms of couples would not be on Hetty, Eric (Barrett Foa) and Nell. The following are the couples to keep an eye out on!

1. Sam and Catherine

Sam (LL Cool J) and Catherine (Moon Bloodgood) are a new couple if we were to compare, say Eric and Nell. So the following season is going to be exciting to see how their relationship proceeds and if it will be slow progress. Executive producer R. Scott Gemmill spoke in an interview with TV Insider about what to expect in the new season and at this time, he commented on this couple and said the "two very guarded people who get in their own way". The one to help them move past their guard is Sam's daughter Kamran who is away studying at the military academy. She is the one who helps her dad open up to Catherine.

2. Kensi and Deeks

Kensi (Daniela Ruah) and Deeks' (Eric Christian Olsen) relationship is under major pressure this season mainly because of how Deeks' position at the LA office is put at risk. This man seems to have trouble even keeping his post let alone concentrate on his relationship. Speaking of Deeks, Gemmill said, "He has to take a time-out." Kensi, on the other hand, he teased would be put at risk because of a past case and this is expected to drag out the entire season.

3. Callen and Anna

Callen (Chris O'Donnell) and Anna's (Bar Paly) relationship is probably the only one that seems to have some exciting news for the audience as we are expected to see how Callen makes a very important step forward in their relationship. Gemmill's hint that Callen has reached a point in life "where he wants to make a commitment he never thought he would," leads us to conclude that the cliffhanger which sees Anna left in danger might be resolved.

However, Gemmill also added that "Something from Anna's past comes back and threatens the team." He explained, "It will put loved ones in jeopardy and put Callen on a new path that strains his relationship with Sam and the team."

'NCIS: Los Angeles' Season 12 new episodes will air every Sunday on CBS at 8.30 pm ET.
