Nayeon becomes 1st K-pop soloist to chart in top 10 of Billboard 200, TWICE fans say: 'So famous'
TWICE’s Nayeon is flying high with her solo debut ‘Im Nayeon’. After 7 years in the K-pop industry, the girls are finally branching out and focusing on their individual projects. Nayeon became the first TWICE member to make her solo debut with a mini-album and she went all out for it as she roped in the likes of Stray Kids’ Felix, Little Mix’s Jade Thirlwall, Wonstein, and Destiny Rogers. Fans were also impressed that her label JYPE was on top of the album stocks, unlike the past TWICE comebacks which have now helped her make history on Billboard 200.
In the first week of July, fans already knew that Nayeon had made history when her album became the seventh best-selling album in the US with 55K pure sales in its first week. The music video for her lead single ‘POP’ also amassed 49 million YouTube views in the first week. And while the TWICE star is doing well on domestic charts like topping Gaon and charting in the top 10 on VIBE, Bugs, and MelOn, she also held her own on Billboard 200 by debuting at #7.

Nayeon makes history on Billboard
Well, on July 4, Billboard updated their charts for the week and revealed that Nayeon’s album was in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 Chart by debuting at #7. It is quite impressive as she did it with her first solo album and also made history by becoming the first K-pop soloist to enter the top 10 of the Billboard 200. Even her group TWICE had made history in the past by becoming the first and only K-pop girl group so far to have two albums in the top 10 of the same chart. ‘Im Nayeon’ is faring well on other Billboard charts as well as it topped the Billboard Top Album Sales Chart with 57k album sales in its first week.
‘Never speak on her again’
TWICE fans were proud as they took to Twitter to trend ‘Nayeon making history’ with tweets like, “Only 10 days after her solo debut, #NAYEON already established herself as one of the biggest Korean / K-POP soloists of all time!” Another ONCE posted, “Nayeon making history and surpassing some of the biggest artists in the kpop industry… and y’all said she couldn’t do it. NEVER speak on her again.”
One fan was proud, “Korean news outlets making articles saying that nayeon making history in kpop in billboard 200 with her mini album. nayeon is so famous, iktr.” With the previous highest-charting idol being BoA 10 years ago, fans were impressed with Nayeon, “I like how they dedicated a huge portion of the article just for Nayeon compared to the other artists HUEHEU FIRST AND HIGHEST KOREAN SOLOIST (a decade after BoA 🤯)NAYEON MAKING HISTORY.”
