Fan excitement is at an all-time high now with ‘Thor: Love & Thunder’, one of the biggest and highly anticipated multi-starrer fantasy action films of this year, about to release in theatres. The film is the fourth and final installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The ‘Thor’ film franchise ever since its inception in 2011 has traced the journey of god of thunder, Thor, who has undergone many highs and lows and in some ways, also lost bits and pieces of himself. The film has been directed by Taika Waititi.
This time the plot of the film 'Thor: Love & Thunder' revolves around how Thor feels burnt out as a god and wants to finally live his life for himself without having to think about others. He sets out on a journey to seek inner peace and calm from all the celestial chaos which always surrounds him. His retirement plans get rudely interrupted by the creepy-looking villain, Gorr the God butcher (Christian Bale), who wants to kill every god in existence and rule on Earth. In the trailer, there’s fantasy, a romantic love angle, eerie supervillains wanting to destroy earth and Thor’s final shot at saving the world and his loved ones in the epic battle of good versus evil against Gorr with some help from his friends. Thor gets a shocking surprise in form of his ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) as Lady Thor, who joins him to help fight Gorr and his army of villains to save humankind and earth. This shock doesn’t make things better for Thor, who still has some feelings for Jane.

'Thor: Love and Thunder ENDING LEAKED: Does Natalie Portman's Jane Foster die in the movie?
In an interview with journalist Andrew Freund, Portman opened up on whether ‘Thor: Love & Thunder’ was the gayest film in the MCU franchise. Portman said, “I love that reading of it, yes. I love that. I mean, that is the core of the comics. I feel like that’s where it all started. It’s very true to the source material, I think.”
Speaking up on the importance of kids dressing up like her character nowadays, she added, “It’s incredible. It’s such a privilege to get to be in that world. And it’s so wonderful also… to be in an era where there’s so many female superheroes that I think girls don’t have to be like, ‘Oh, there’s one girl one and that’s the one I am.’ There’s like so many that they can choose from and relate to based on their personality, or their you know superpowers, or even their weaknesses that like they can figure out who they fit with as a human and not just feel like they have to find their demographic like, you know, alignment.”
When Freund asked if Jane Foster's Thor was to have her own book club, what sort of literature would it feature, Portman replied, “Maybe some like love poetry. Like some Neruda. I actually spied Chris Hemsworth reading some on set one day and I was like, Oh, I feel like that is very in our… She’s very romantic, I think. She’s a romantic for sure.”
The official synopsis of the film reads, “Thor embarks on a journey unlike anything he's ever faced a quest for inner peace. However, his retirement gets interrupted by Gorr the God Butcher, a galactic killer who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie, Korg and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster, who to his surprise inexplicably wields his magical hammer. Together, they set out on a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher's vengeance”. Besides Natalie Portman, the film also stars Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, and Russell Crowe alongside Christian Bale. The movie releases in theatres on July 8, 2022.
