Spoilers ahead for season 1 episode 3 'The Curse of the Dark Storm'

It was a stormy episode this week on The CW's 'Nancy Drew'. 'The Curse of the Dark Storm' started with Detective Karen (Alvina August) paying Nancy (Kennedy McMann) a visit. She tells her that if she wants the cops to drop all break-in charges against her, she should give them more evidence on Nick's (Tunji Kasim) motives for the murder.

And so throughout the episode, Nancy prods Nick to tell her what exactly had happened the night of the murder, perhaps she could help him - she doesn't want to give Nick to the cops. But he refuses to tell her, he doesn't want to discuss it right until the end of the episode when the duo brings the box they found hidden by Tiffany. They bring the box to the Claw and Nick tells the gang that he knows they don't trust him given his past and that they think he killed Tiffany (Sinead Curry), but he wants to show them what is in the box and gain some trust. Ace (Alex Saxon) says that even if he didn't kill Tiffany, he killed someone. And that's when he realizes that in order to gain the group's trust, he must come clean about what happened.

He tells the story of Austin, the guy who he killed. He was with a female friend when Austin started harassing her, first with his words and then with his hands. Austin tells Nick to leave but that his friend must stay back. There was no way that he would leave his friend behind with Austin.

He recalls that things took a turn for the worse with the duo coming to blows and that's when Austin happened to fall down to his death from the window of the second floor.

What Nick did those many years ago, did in self-defence. And it is true for even Tiffany regrets testifying against him when he told her what had really happened that night. She had paid him multiple visits when he was in jail and over time, they had developed a unique friendship.

Now that Nick has come clean about that night, will the gang trust him as one of their own?

'Nancy Drew' airs Wednesdays at 9 pm ET/PT on The CW.
