'My Big Fat Fabulous Life’ star Whitney Thore says she's 'helicopter parenting' dad Glenn after mom Babs' death
GREENSBORO, NORTH CAROLINA: ‘My Big Fat Fabulous Life’ star Whitney Way Thore is trying hard to cope with the death of her mother Barbara Thore. Ever since Barbara died, Whitney seems to be taking a lot of care of her father Glenn Thore. She recently uploaded a clip on social media saying, "I love him so much + want to protect him at all costs!"
Whitney seems to be "helicopter-parenting" her father and taking care of his every minute detail. She uploaded a video on social media saying, "It's been hard just to get through each day and I find myself really wanting to be near my dad all the time." She added, "I'm a helicopter parent." She then showed herself and then showed her father from the back camera, saying, "I'm watching him like a hawk." With Glenn showing off his new swim wears 'My Big Fat Fabulous Life’ star says in the clip, "Several months ago, I bought my dad these new swimming trunks and I asked him if he would come swimming with me." But, the ultimate motive behind asking Glenn for swimming was diverting his mind from her late mom Barbara. The star further claims, "Now, that my mom is gone, I'm looking for ways to keep us busy and keep us active." Therefore, Whitney is now focussing more on her father and taking care of him.

Whitney has been hit hard by the death of her mother. She now knows how it feels like to lose one of your close ones. Whitney says in the video, "More than anything, I'm looking for ways to keep us (her and Glenn) together." In order to do so, she got her father a membership to the pool. She says, "And here we are doing some water aerobics." Glenn and Whitney are seen jumping up and down as a warm-up before starting swimming.
In the video, Whitney is seen holding her father from the back and teaching him backstrokes. She says, "It's been a really long time since he's swum." Further in the clip, Whitney is seen swimming and helping out Glenn to do the same. She says, "I know we've got a lot of like mobility work to do, but we made a commitment to work out together five days a week."
Whitney seems to be taking a lot of care of her father ever since her mother passed away. The star knows that it becomes hard for the other one to pass the time when his/her partner is gone.
Whitney further promises to update her fans with more about her fitness journey. A fan commented on Whitney's post, "You are just the sweetest! Love how you take care of your parents."
Another wrote, "Love your dad so much! He is such a great guy and father!!! I know it's gotta be so hard without your mom for all of you but so proud of you for making the effort and getting your dad out there and still trying to enjoy the time with him. Such a loving and wonderful family you guys have."
A fan shared their journey with loss too and wrote, "That’s awesome! I just lost my grandma so we are trying to keep my grandpa busy as well. They were married for 63 years and now he’s in the house alone."
Barbara had been sick for a long time. And during that period, Glenn invested almost all his time in her. Therefore, with her now gone, Glenn has been left with a lot of empty space. Whitney is trying her best to fill in the gap created in her father's life.
