'My 600-lb Life': John and Lonnie come together as a family as they take on weight loss surgery
John and Lonnie have always had problems with their weight but another thing that adds up to their problems is the relationship that these brothers share. The brothers have had a hard time coming in terms with how they handle their lifestyle and life decisions that led them to head their separate ways.
John revealed that he turned towards eating when his parents got a divorce and it did not make things easier when his father passed away when he was 26. Meanwhile, Lonnie revealed that he was turned towards eating around the same time but the thing that took a toll on him was the response he got from his family when he came out as gay to them.
Lonnie had been keeping his sexuality a secret for a long time and he was expecting a positive response from his family. Unfortunately, he did not get what he wanted. Lonnie's mother ignored his statement and tries to brush off the new information that she had gotten. Meanwhile, Lonnie expected to get a positive response from his brother but things did not work out the way he had expected.
John was not too happy to know that Lonnie was gay as he believed that their restrictive religious beliefs made it a sin. However, the two were able to keep their differences aside and come together as a family when they started their weight loss journey together. John and Lonnie knew that they could not go on living their life as they were living in the moment.
To make things right, the brothers worked together and decided to visit Dr Younan Nowzaradan who advised them to get their weight under control if they wanted to get approved for the surgery. Lonnie and John then worked together and planned out a meal plan that allowed them to keep themselves under a strict diet.
At the same time, the brothers took a walk together to make sure they were getting the physical exercise that they needed. Luckily, working together helped them lose their weight and mend their relationship. Now, the brothers hope to work together as time goes by.
