If Lil Nas X is present at an award show, he is bound to make headlines with his stunning red carpet appearances and hair-raising onstage performances. Continuing the ritual, the ‘Old Town Road (Remix)’ hitmaker gave an edgy performance as he took over the stage of MTV VMAs 2021 on Sunday, September 12.

The 22-year-old singer first raised eyebrows with his glittery lavender outfit while rocking the mullet hairstyle from the 80s. Looking at his red carpet outfit, it seems he channeled the late singer Prince with his all-purple ensemble by Atelier Versace. The gorgeous outfit of Nas X was surely one of the highlights with sparkling pants and an off-the-shoulder coat with a sweeping train. Speaking of his performance, the Grammy-winning crooner belted out his recent hit single ‘Industry Baby’ as he landed on the stage semi-nude.

Lil Nas X steals the show with raunchy performance

Lil Nas X first got on the stage with his pants on with a bunch of male background dancers hyping him on the song ‘Industry Baby’. However, he soon dropped the pants as he continued the rest of the performance in briefs. The male background dancers too created the buzz in the same attire as the audience cheered them up. The multi-platinum singer has given similar performances in the past at various award shows in the last year.

Speaking of the 2021 edition of MTV VMAs award show, Justin Bieber with seven nods picked up Best Pop and Artist of the Year. Whereas, Olivia Rodrigo grabbed Song of the Year for ‘drivers license’. Megan Thee Stallion scored six nods and teen sensation Billie Eilish managed to score five nominations. Since MTV VMAs 2021 came after a day of the 20th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks, the Moon Person trophy was redesigned by Kehinde Wiley in order to honor the victims. Speaking on the same, MTV in an official statement said, as reported by Rolling Stone, “Kehinde Wiley’s Moon Person sculpture represents inclusivity and diversity marked by the historical, environmental and nature relevance of the botanicals.”
