Miley Cyrus announces 'Plastic Hearts', says Malibu fire that ravaged her home 'changed everything'
Nearly two years after losing her house in the Malibu fire, Miley Cyrus has taken to her social media to open up about the delay in releasing new music and while doing so, she also thanked her fans for their support on October 23.
Sharing the cover art for her new album 'Plastic Hearts' on Instagram, the pop singer revealed that though she started the album two years ago and thought that the work was done, the fire "erased" everything because most of the music's relevance had changed and added that "it never felt right to release my 'story'".
She started her note with thanking her fans and wrote, "If you’re reading this… know that I f***ing love and appreciate you on the deepest level. I began this album over 2 years ago. Thought I had it all figured out. Not just the record with its songs and sounds but my whole f***ing life. But no one checks an ego like life itself. Just when I thought the body of work was finished… it was ALL erased. Including most of the musics relevance. Because EVERYTHING had changed."
Cyrus continued, "Nature did what I now see as a favor and destroyed what I couldn’t let go of for myself. I lost my house in a fire but found myself in its ashes. Luckily my collaborators still had most of the music that was burned up in journals and computers filled with songs for the EP series I was working on at the time. But it never felt right to release my 'story' (each record being a continual autobiography) with a huge chapter missing."
Further speaking on her long-awaited LP, Cyrus said: "If it were a chapter in my book I guess I would call it 'The Beginning' which usually when something is over we call it 'The End'. But it was far from that." She added, "In triumph and gratitude I present to you my 7th studio record, Plastic Hearts. To be released Nov. 27th 2020."
Fans were quick to share their support for their favorite singer as one said, "So proud of you and SO EXCITED," while another wrote, "We love you @mileycyrus! We can’t wait!" One fan said, "That’s what’s up! I’m so excited for you."
Over on Twitter, there was also much love for Cyrus and appreciation for her statement. "AS SHE SHOULD AND NOW SHE IS COMING," wrote an excited fan. One fan added, "Omg i’m glad she is safe." Another concerned fan said, "omg i didn’t know this wtf."
