Miley Cyrus's intimate cover of Pink Floyd's 'Wish You Were Here' has fans in love with her rock growls
Miley Cyrus performed an intimate cover of Pink Floyd's 'Wish You Were Here' on April 25. The 'Slide Away' songstress appeared as a celebrity guest on the latest episode of 'Saturday Night Live at Home'.
In the cozy red-lit video, we see Cyrus sitting near a fire pit in her backyard while producer Andrew Watt plays the acoustic guitar to deliver their rendition of the classic song from their respective homes. Watt revealed he tested positive for coronavirus on March 17, according to Billboard.
'Wish You Were Here' is the mega-hit by Pink Floyd off the album of the same name, which released in 1975. The band themselves have an unending fanbase and 'Wish You Were Here' has always been included in Pink Floyd discussions since its release. It ranked at No. 324 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
With a clean recording of the performance, the guitar sound is crisp and Cyrus shows her ability to sing rock and roll vocals and we have to say, it totally suits her.
Fans shared their adoration for the performance and their love for the songstress on Twitter. Amongst many fans calling her "queen" and "queen of vocals", a fan said, "We are in love with it!" One fan wrote, "Miley singing my favorite song is the best thing I've seen this year." One fan also said, "One of your best covers" while another said, "You were born for this type of music!" Another fan pointed out the "rock growl" in her vocals saying she should do it more. Other comments included, "You KILLED me. Imagine how dead i'll be when you finally drop the album?" and "I haven’t stopped listening to it omg you snapped (sic)."
'Wish You Were Here' is the second cover of Pink Floyd that Cyrus has done. She sang a cover of 'Comfortably Numb when she performed at Las Vegas iHeartRadio Music Festival in September 2019. The 'Wish You Were Here' performance is also the second time 'SNL at Home' has enlisted an artist to play an acoustic cover of a classic rock song. Let's hope to see Cyrus doing more of these amazing rock songs.
