Mikaela Davis drops second single 'Other Lover' from upcoming album 'Delivery'
The second song from harpist, pianist, singer-songwriter Mikaela Davis' debut album 'Delivery’ is out Friday. 'Other Lover' is a floating, twisting, exploration of a relationship gone sour with a tight groove and a flourish of dreamy hooks, all held together with Mikaela's sparkling harp.
Talking about the single in a press release, Mikaela said: "'Other Lover' was written about four years ago in Nashville with Konrad Snyder and Jeremy Lutito. As I recall, we only had a few hours to write before I continued on a tour. The song came together rather quickly, and my manager called all excited when he got the demo. At the time I wasn’t sure I could pull off singing the song, but it’s been a staple in my set ever since! We recorded a whole record together but it was shelved. 'Other Lover' is the one track that made it to 'Delivery.'"
The New York based singer/songwriter previously shared the title track of the album with a stunning music video to accompany the song. 'Delivery' was produced by John Congleton, who's worked with some of the biggest names in the indie rock scene including St. Vincent and Future Islands. 'Delivery' is poised to be a much-anticipated album that showcases the range of the harp and what Mikaela can do with it.
Having previously toured with Bon Iver, San Fermin, The Staves and more, Mikaela is currently wrapping up a month-long sold-out national tour with Lake Street Dive and has announced her full band album release show at Baby's All Right in Brooklyn on July 26, along with a UK and European run in the fall.
