‘Meow: The Secret Boy’ Episode 3 shows how much a case of mistaken identity and the resulting misunderstanding can change someone’s life. In the case of Sol-ah (Shin Ye-eun), we are speaking of the cat that can transform and change into a human being in Sol-ah’s presence and in case of Jae-sun (Seo Ji-Hoon), it is his misunderstanding that Sol-ah abandoned a kitten. Turns out, the first time Sol-ah met Hong Jo (Kim Myung-soo) who is a cat that can change into human was when he was a child and she had tried to keep him warm by giving him her scarf.

However, when she moves away from him to check on something the little boy turns into a kitten Sol-ah, who doesn’t know about the kitten, and ends up searching for the boy before she leaves. Jae-sun, who had just kissed Sol-ah and was on his way to confess his love for her, sees the kitten abandoned on the street wrapped up in Sol-ah’s scarf that he had always seen her wear and he assumed that she was the one to abandon the kitten. As a baby, Jae-sun was abandoned by his parents and left at the door of an orphanage and so he has a deep seated trauma when it comes to someone abandoning anything. This results in Jae-sun distancing himself from Sol-ah and even going as far as dating another girl before he breaks up with her too.

For Sol-ah, who is not in the know of all of this, she ends up feeling as if she is being strung out by Jae-sun. He is not ready to tell her the truth about why he didn’t turn up at the meeting spot a year ago when he had said he would. So Sol-ah is frustrated and is not sure of Jae-sun’s feelings for her. Until this moment, she had been comfortable with not knowing an answer but then Jae-sun ends up hurting Sol-ah by telling her how she shouldn’t continue to be obsessed with “Byeodal Love”. It is a comic format where a girl is stereotyped to be a figure of a damsel in distress to be saved by prince charming. However, the Byeodal Love that Sol-ah believes in is about the girl saving the boy from a life filled with despair with her love, care and support.

To be so damn misunderstood by everyone, considering she had published a webtoon online about Byeodal Love puts enough pressure on Sol-ah to finally confront Jae-sun about what happened a year ago. She is completely heartbroken when Jae-sun refuses to tell her the truth. The one to comfort her is Hong-jo -- her cat/human.

While he had interrupted Sol-ah and Jae-sun from having a moment what really helped him get a bit closer to Sol-ah is another case of mistaken identity. Just as Hong-jo interrupts Sol-ah and Jae-sun, Sol-ah ends up getting a call from his father’s partner about how her son might be arriving. Sol-ah just assumes that Hong-jo is the son, and lets him live with her in their house. This friendship helps her through the heartbreak but now what? Will Hong-jo be able to keep his secret safe?

New episodes of 'Meow: The Secret Boy' will air on Wednesday and Thursday' on KBS2 at 10 pm.
