BTS, Blackpink and Oh My Girl among Top 10 winners for Melon Music Awards 2020 but Baekhyun gets most support
South Korea's major awards event, the Melon Music Awards, has announced its Top 10 Artists winners for the year 2020. Artists like Blackpink, Oh My Girl, Kim Ho Joong made entries this year while BTS has entered the Top 10 once again after taking home all four Daesang awards last year. See the complete list below.
The first round of voting for the upcoming MMA 2020 was held from November 11 through to November 20 as Melon users cast their votes for the ten artists who received the most support on the music streaming platform over the past year. The top 10 accumulates online fan votes, Melon chart streaming scores, etc. According to Soompi, the 2020 Top 10 were determined by 80 percent of Melon download and streaming counts while 20 percent was taken from votes.
Meanwhile, from today (November 20), the upcoming awards ceremony will start the voting for categories such as 'Best Song', 'Best Artist', 'Best Album', 'Rookie of the Year', 'Popularity Award', and more. So, stay tuned for updates on those winners. Only votes taken from Melon users will be eligible.

"@BLACKPINK deserved," says a fan of the K-pop girl group. An IZ*ONE fan writes, "IZ*ONE the only 4th gen group did that." "Congrats bangtan and IU yey," added another fan. As expected, a fandom who often make headlines for their loyal support of BTS, the ARMY also shared their love for their favorite K-pop group. Comments were notably and significantly higher for Baekhyun. Currently a solo artist, Baekhyun is a singer-songwriter and actor most commonly known as a member of South Korean-Chinese boy group Exo and as leader of South Korean supergroup SuperM. He has been labeled as the "Genius Idol" and since kicking off his solo career in 2019, Baekhyun has become one of South Korea's best-selling artists, with records getting broken from the past 19 years.
The Melon Music Awards 2020 will take place over the course of four days, kicking off on December 2 and wrapping up on December 5. The main ceremony will be held on December 5 at 7:00 p.m. KST / 5:00 a.m. EST. Artists included in the line-up so far for performances at this year's ceremony are BTS, DAY6 (Even of Day), Jang Beom June, and Im Young Woong.
