'Megan Thee Stallion MATTERS': Candace Owens lends support to rapper after DA slams Tory Lanez
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Candace Owens lent her support to Megan Thee Stallion after Tory Lanez’s defense attorney accused the rapper of lying. Owens wrote on her official Twitter handle, “Megan Thee Stallion has credibly accused Tory Lanez of shooting her in the foot. She turned down hush money and has been stabbed in the back by her friends. Instead of getting showered with support, Megan was mocked. I can't imagine what it would be like to be in her position.”
Owens said in her podcast episode that even though she is not a very big fan of Stallion's songs, she felt disgusted by seeing what is happening in her personal life. "The fact is the person behind is not being canceled is incredible to me," she added. Earlier on Wednesday, December 21, in his own closing argument, Lanez's defense attorney George Mgdesyan gave jurors reason for Stallion to lie, claiming to have been victimized by Lanez was a better public narrative than the embarrassing and potentially career-damaging truth of actually being shot by her best friend, not Lanez.

Mgdesyan said, “Megan Pete is a liar. She lied about everything in this case from the beginning. She lied under oath here.” He said that a pause in the five rounds fired on the night of July 12, 2020, heard on an audio tape, was proof that Lanez truly fought with Stallion's former friend Kelsey Harris to stop her from shooting. “He was trying to protect her,” Mgdesyan remarked.

Meanwhile, Owens' remarks come after Deputy District Attorney Alexander Bott argued that Stallion would never have endured the barrage of criticism she has if she hadn't been speaking the truth about rapper Lanez shooting her in the feet and injuring her in the summer of 2020. Stallion's agony, which was clear in her testimony last week, and her bravery in overcoming it, according to the Los Angeles County DA, should be taken into account by the jury. In addition, he said that given the criticism Stallion had faced online and in some segments of the hip-hop culture, the jury should find Lanez guilty in order to give her justice.
“Why would she lie? She’s been subjected to a stream of hate. For what? For coming forward as a victim of domestic violence? Megan does matter. This case matters. Hold him accountable for shooting Megan over nothing more than a bruised ego,” the California prosecutor representing Stallion remarked. The 30-year-old Canadian rapper, Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, has entered a not-guilty plea to charges of assault with a firearm and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a moving vehicle. The counts could lead to up to 22 years in prison and deportation.
According to Click 2 Houston, Stallion testified that she left a gathering at Kylie Jenner's Hollywood Hills house with Lanez, his bodyguard, and Harris in an SUV. She claimed that following a disagreement, she insulted Lanez's music, which particularly enraged him. Stallion claimed that Lanez fired at her feet and shouted, "Dance, b***h!" as she started to leave the SUV. In order to remove the bullet pieces, Stallion also required surgery afterward.
