'A deranged bully': Meghan McCain slams Kanye West, slates Republicans for fawning over him
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Meghan McCain has warned conservatives to keep their distance from Kanye West as she called him “a deranged bully” who is “now an anti-Semite too.” The 37-year-old conservative columnist’s comments came after the rapper created a lot of controversy with his ‘White Lives Matter’ merchandise, which he showcased during Paris Fashion Week.
Writing for The Daily Mail, McCain noted that “the stunt even earned Kanye a segment on Tucker Carlson's Fox News show, during which the rapper-turned-fashion designer ranted incoherently. It was pathetic. But then over the weekend, it got worse.” The television personality was referring to West’s anti-Semitic posts, which has now been removed from Twitter and other social media accounts.

She stated that though the posts have been taken down, conservatives need to be more careful while associating themselves with him. She said, “I agree that 'Black Lives Matter' as an organization deserves serious criticism. The faux-charity's misuse of tens of millions of dollars in donations is an absolute scandal and demands intense scrutiny. But is Kanye best the vehicle for this message? Are conservatives really that desperate?” before claiming: “I am not a fan of Kanye.”
In her piece, McCain said she does not really understand “celebrity worship by conservatives” as she went on to say, “The Republican Party brand is supposed to be anti-celebrity and anti-elite. Yet anytime a big name shows even the slightest interest in conservative causes, they are granted prime time interviews and slobbered over by pundits and politicians. It's a bit embarrassing.”
Focusing back on the ‘Donda’ creator’s alleged inappropriate social media shares lately, the author wrote that “this Kanye incident hit home for me in a different way. I am a deeply committed defender of Jewish people, a proud Zionist and an activist against antisemitism. Now, conservatives must be just as vocal in condemning his outrageous antisemitic conspiracy theories, as they were applauding his BLM takedown. It's the least they can do.”
McCain citing a report by Anti-Defamation League said that “anti-Semitic hate crimes and behaviors hit an all-time high in 2021, up 34% from the prior year,” as she added, “Antisemitism is a cancer and America needs to cut it out. The left cannot be relied upon to take up this cause, so the right cannot compromise itself. If conservatives don't stand with our Jewish friends, who will?”
However, McCain’s words have seemingly not resonate well with people online as a user shared, “U should focus on getting rid of the true actual politicians that chant death to@America first Meghan.” Another user wrote, “This is how we see Kanye a sell out who is getting attention from hypocrites like u cause he has new music about to drop this is the same goof who said Bush doesn't like black people.”
