Since quitting in July 2021, Meghan McCain, the former panelist has slammed her former show as "a toxic" work environment. Speaking on The Commentary Magazine Podcast, Meghan had a lot of negative things to say about the show.

After giving birth to her daughter Liberty, who is now one, she left her job soon after. Meghan thought about how she would feel if her daughter wanted to follow in her mother's talk show footsteps as she described the culture at 'The View'.

“If in 15 years she came to me and said to me, ‘The View wants to have me host there,’” Meghan explained, “I would lie in front of a train track before I let her go to that show. I didn’t feel supported when I had my baby and I didn’t feel supported coming back, and that was ultimately it. That was why I left!.”

"It was a very egregious toxic work environment," the Republican commentator continued. On September 28, 2020, Meghan gave birth to Liberty, the first child for both she and her husband Ben Domenech, who is also a conservative commentator. The single mother claims that the setting of the show made it difficult for her to adjust.

Meghan has been vocal about her negative experiences both on-air and behind-the-scenes since she left 'The View' last year. In addition, Meghan told listeners of The Commentary Magazine Podcast that Joy Behar, 79, had said something particularly hurtful that caused her to leave. It happened after Meghan rejoined the program after her maternity leave.

The TV personality said: “ I finally went back to the show, and the day I went back to the show, Joy Behar said on air, "Nobody missed you, we didn’t miss you, you shouldn’t have come back. And I just… I started hysterically crying. Sorry gentlemen, I know, I started lactating on air and I started crying.”

Joy's remarks to Meghan struck her as especially hurtful because she had experienced a miscarriage prior to getting pregnant with Liberty. Joy had joked on air a month after the tragedy that Meghan could only breastfeed "a cactus." Alyssa Farah Griffin has now replaced Meghan as a conservative voice on 'The View'. The 33-year-old political adviser served as President Donald Trump's director of strategic communications. “I do hope that the next people are treated differently,” Meghan said of her replacement.

Longtime panelist Joy Behar predicts the new conservative co-star of 'The View' will be much "smoother" than Meghan McCain. Alyssa Farah Griffin was named as the program's new permanent co-host on Thursday. Notably, Farah Griffin was employed by the White House under Donald Trump's presidency.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight about her new co-star, Behar said, "Alyssa has got a whole different personality. I think it will be smoother, frankly." She added, "I think this girl is going to do very well — I call her girl because she's only 32 years old." Additionally, Ana Navarro — a political commentator and frequent guest of the show — is also joining the show's panel. Sharing the advice she gave the women, after having been a co-host since the show began, Behar offered, "This show is a volleyball game, it's not a golf game. If you know to hit the ball and wait for it to come back to you, you'll be fine. That's the only advice I ever give anybody."
