Ben Domenech's bizarre defense of wife Meghan McCain after sick troll body-shames her online
Meghan McCain’s husband Ben Domenech stood up for his wife in a social media feud where a user body-shamed her. On Tuesday, September 6, the 40-year-old co-founder of The Federalist said that former President Donald Trump "totally botched" the COVID-19 outbreak, igniting a Twitter war. As a result, one supporter decided to troll the writer's partner McCain, 37, by body-shaming her. The user said, “Megan [sic] must be waving those fat b***s of hers to get your attn … loser.”
To which, Domenech responded, “I must inform you it does not make me a loser to have a wife with big tits.” Later Meghan herself quoted her husband's reply and added on Twitter, “OH MY GOD – BEN 🤦🏼♀️.” According to Page Six, McCain and Domenech exchanged vows in November 2017 at the family ranch of the Bad Republican novelist in Page Springs, Arizona. She exclaimed at the time on ‘The View’, “You may have read something about me on the Internet last night. I’m engaged! We’ve been together for years. We’ve been engaged for a while and it’s a secret. I was hoping to get married and people wouldn’t find out, but people talk sometimes. I love him very much, I’m very happy.”

McCain additionally disclosed that the proposal occurred during a difficult moment in her life because her late father senator John McCain was fighting illness at the time. “Everybody keeps asking me, ‘How’d you get engaged?’ We were at Mayo Clinic, and my father had his scan, and we got engaged because we decided to sort of celebrate life and celebrate being alive. It’s not the most romantic story, but he is my partner,” she explained at the time. In September 2020, the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Liberty Sage, after experiencing a miscarriage the previous year. The former TV cohost revealed her pregnancy in March 2020.

According to Page Six, she wrote at the time, “Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all the wonderful well wishes and overwhelming kindness. Ben and I are completely and utterly in love with our daughter and feeling indescribably blessed/blissed out. We will be watching her first debate as a family together tonight!” The Emmy nominee announced the news of her miscarriage in a New York Times column in July 2019.
She also wrote via Instagram at the time, “Ben and I are the luckiest, most incredibly blessed people in the world surrounded by love and support. My hope is by continuing to share grief and loss, and addressing these taboo subjects head on it will help people who have experienced the same to feel less alone. I was petrified to share my story publicly but I never, ever let fear dictate my life choices. I will always take the leap, I will always roll the dice.”
