Ahead of the UK telecast of their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's team warned the BBC to be impartial in their coverage. The PR team specifically reminded them to not use just "old white men" in the TV debates expected to follow after the explosive interview aired in the UK on March 8. The interview had already left the US rattled after it aired on Sunday, March 7.

The interview, which aired on CBS as a two-hour special, aired in the UK a full day later. By then, social media was already buzzing with the explosive revelations and claims the former royal couple had made as they sat down for a chat with Oprah Winfrey.

Markle had revealed that there were concerns surrounding how dark their then yet-to-be-born son Archie's skin color was going to be. She also spoke about feeling suicidal, and how all her cries for help were denied as it would be bad for the "Institution".

Markle also pointed fingers at British tabloids and media for their constant bullying in articles with a racist subtext. The brutal scrutiny allegedly left the former actress torn and eventually lead to what is popularly called the "Megxit".

After their racism claims, the former royals' PR person for their company Archewell, sent a warning to correspondents at the BBC. Seniors at the public-funded British channel were told that there was a need for a “broad range of contributors” once the interview had been broadcast. Information about this PR 'warning' was brought to light after Markle personally called ITV bosses about Piers Morgan's views on the couple.

According to sources speaking to The Sun, “The BBC by its very nature has to be impartial at all times. So to be told how to conduct their coverage of a major news event by a PR person acting on behalf of Harry and Meghan is a bit strange to say the least. This is the UK, not China. You can’t tell the BBC how to conduct its journalism, which frankly, was more than fair and balanced.”

A BBC spokesman quoted in the report said: “While we are contacted by PRs all the time, we would never confirm whether the representatives of anyone had been in touch. You mentioned contributors. We had a broad range of voices on our output and don’t believe there are any issues.”

Meghan and Harry interview

The claims made in the interview have since been called out by many, including conservative pundit Ben Shapiro, who suggested Markle and Harry were lying when they said there were "concerns" from the royal family about Archie's skin colour before he was born. Donald Trump Jr. has also dubbed Prince Harry 'dude in hostage video', and claimed Meghan was not the 'victim' in the entire situation as she alleged in the interview.

The former Duke and Duchess of Sussex also had some happy news to share as they sat down with Oprah Winfrey. It was revealed that the pregnant Meghan was expecting a baby girl this time.

Harry also claimed that his father Prince Charles, and brother Prince William, are also are trapped within the monarchy, much like he was. He, however, noted that the reason he was able to drop his royal duties and his title along with his wife was because of the assets his late mother Diana had set aside for him. This has lead to speculation that the couple might end up naming their second child after her.
