Megyn Kelly slams Meghan Markle for saying 'I don't believe in grandeur': 'She covered herself in blood diamonds'
American journalist Megyn Kelly has alleged that Meghan Markle "covered herself in blood diamonds" after claiming she wasn't attached to the "grandeur" that came with being a senior royal. The former Fox News star also attacked Meghan for making the claim despite having invited Oprah Winfrey and George Clooney to her royal wedding in 2018.
Kelly spoke to ITV's 'Good Morning Britain' after Meghan and Prince Harry's bombshell interview with Oprah that was aired Sunday evening on CBS.

"She (Meghan) goes onto say, I don't believe in any of the grandeur. There's an article already up on the New York Post here in the States that's saying this is the person who had Clooney and Oprah at her wedding even though she didn't even know them, and then covered herself in blood diamonds from a Saudi Prince, so like, spare us that you're not into any of the grandeur," the veteran journalist stated.

This comes shortly after claims that Meghan donned a pair of lavish diamond earrings gifted by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia, who is accused of approving the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Kelly was referring to a New York Post article by Maureen Callahan titled, "Meghan Markle's interview was full of bull."
"What I saw tonight was somebody who is totally un-self-aware, completely unaware of how she sounded," Kelly told ITV of Meghan. Her "grandeur" reference came when Meghan revealed how she learned that Archie wouldn't become a prince and wouldn't be receiving security.
"Was the title… was him being called a prince, Archie, being called a prince, was that important to you?" Oprah asked Meghan.
"If it meant he was going to be safe, then, of course," Meghan replied. "All the grandeur surrounding this stuff is an attachment that I don't personally have, right? I've been a waitress, an actress, a princess, a duchess. I've always just still been Meghan, right? So, for me, I'm clear on who I am, independent of all that stuff."
"And the most important title I will ever have is 'Mom'. I know that," she continued. "But the idea of our son not being safe, and also the idea of the first member of color in this family not being titled in the same way that other grandchildren would be".
Earlier, Meghan was criticized for wearing diamond earrings gifted by Mohammed bin Salman while speaking up for human rights in Saudi Arabia. According to the Daily Mail, she was photographed wearing the earrings just three weeks after the assassination of Washington Post columnist Khashoggi. Responding to the backlash, Meghan claimed she was "unaware" of the outrage at the time after the prince was linked to the murder.
That said, Kelly also slammed the royal couple for complaining about having to "pay" for their own security. "Harry is saying, ‘All I had was my mother’s inheritance,’ so I looked that up, it's about $15-16million,” Megyn stated. “So you’re telling the American public, the British public right now, we’re supposed to feel sorry for you because you had to find a way to pay for your own security when you haven’t had to pay for a dime of your own life so far?" she said, adding that the "British taxpayers have paid for everything.”
