LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'The Big Bang Theory' alum Mayim Bialik was introduced to the cast of the fan-favorite sitcom in a guest appearance in the Season 3 finale. From the fourth season, Bialik's character of Amy Farrah Fowler was a permanent part of the series, in which she was the love interest of one of the show's protagonists, Sheldon Cooper, played by Jim Parsons. While the character of the 'Blossom' actress captured the attention of viewers, her casting was equally dramatic.

Bialik revealed that while she competed with five other actresses, none “were neuroscientists,” reports The Hollywood Reporter. She said, “I auditioned with five other actresses — none of whom were neuroscientists — who were really talented and many of whom I knew of.” However, she had to speak only five lines, “There wasn't a lot of lines; it was five lines in that season three finale. They told us all to wait after we went in.” She further revealed that she got the affirmation the afternoon of the same day, “They called two of us back in. We went home and found out that afternoon.”

Mayim Bialik says she 'can't wait' to find out if she will reprise Amy's role in 'TBBT' spin-off

Mayim Bialik craves appreciation from fans amid backlash against 'Jeopardy!' hosting

Bialik, who herself holds a doctorate in neuroscience from UCLA, was selected for a similar nerdy role. Interestingly, while her inclusion in the series was natural, there was a coincidence that is hard to overlook. In the episode titled 'The Bat Jar Conjecture' from Season 1, her joining the cast was prophesied. It showed how the group struggled to find a team member for their Physics Bowl squad after Sheldon left them to form his own group. Surprisingly, Raj suggests that they take in the girl who played Blossom on TV, who he has heard is exceptionally educated and has a PhD in neuroscience. This was, paradoxically, a clear reference to Bialik herself, which the writers happened to include, reports Starte Facts.

In an interview with The Social, she revealed she was auditioning for roles because her health insurance was expiring, “So I literally figure – I mean, I had a toddler and a newborn and I had been a grad student and my insurance was expiring. I figured if I can just get even a couple of jobs like here or there, I’ll be able to get insurance again.” She later added how landing the role in ‘TBBT’ saved her. “And I eventually auditioned for this show called 'The Big Bang Theory' which I had never seen, and it changed my life and I got insurance.”

'I'll do anything related to anything like that'

Recently while attending the Los Angeles LGBT Center Gala, the 'Blossom’ star revealed she “can’t wait to find out” about the ‘TBBT’ reboot. In an interview with E! News, when she was asked whether she will be reprising her role of the neuroscientist, the ‘Call Me Kat’ star said, “If I am, I don't know it,” before adding, “I got the news like everybody else. We're all still pretty close, so there was a lot of texting going on. And I asked my agent. He was like, ''I don't know.'' I guess no one knows at this point, but I can't wait to find out.”

While Bialik doesn’t know whether she would be making an appearance, she certainly seems excited at the prospect as the ‘Call Me Kat’ star added in the interview, "I'll do anything related to anything like that,” and continued, “But yeah, we really have no idea. So I'm in the same boat as everyone else.”

The ‘Jeopardy!’ host also shared an adorable anecdote about her children who too are equally excited about her comeback. She said, “My kids are like, ‘‘Well, Mama, you have to know',' and I said I really don't. I loved all of our characters. And we've had so many incredible guest characters. So I was like, it could be anything. It could literally be anything,” reports Daily Mail

'Mayim Bialik's casting is genius'

Over time, the character of Amy has become a fan favorite and netizens have time and again applauded the casting team for making a brilliant choice in Bialik. One fan commented, "U can talk shit about the Big Bang Theory all u want (and I get it lol) but the casting crew made the best decision of having an experienced actress with a PhD in neuroscience play a woman with a PhD in neuroscience, Mayim Bialik." One even compared 'TBBT' with 'Friends,' hailing Bialik's casting, "RT @garyjallen: More power to Big Bang Theory, it's the Friends of our time| I'd go along with that. And Mayim Bialik's casting is genius." Another said, "I love that in the first season of Big Bang Theory they want to add 'TV's Blossom' to their team...in Season 4 Mayim Bialik joins the cast."
