'Masters of the Universe': Nicholas Galitzine calls upon the power of Grayskull in intriguing trailer
After releasing the teaser of 'Masters of the Universe' on Wednesday, Amazon MGM dropped a full-length trailer. Directed by Travis Knight, the iconic franchise returns to the big screen in an epic live-action fantasy actioner this summer.
After staying separated from his home of Eternia, the Sword of Power takes Prince Adam (Nicholas Galitzine) back to his home, ruled over by Skeletor (Jared Leto). To save his family and his world, Adam invokes the power of the sword and joins the fight alongside allies Duncan/Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba) and Teela (Camila Mendes) to become He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe.
The trailer opens with Galitzine in the real world as Adam Glenn, working in an office. His co-worker, Suzie (Sasheer Zamata), calls out his dreams and rapt interest in swords. Things change when Adam finds the Power Sword that grants him the power of He-Man. The scene moves to Adam returning to Eternia, where his parent,s King Randor and Queen Marlena (James Purefoy and Charlotte Riley), reveal why they sent him away from Eternia.
Upon his return to Eternia under siege by Skeletor (Leto), Adam joins forces with his allies as they take the fight to evil. The trailer also reveals Morena Baccarin as the Sorceress, along with Evil-Lyn (Alison Brie), Beast-Man, and Spikor.
The official synopsis reads: After being separated for 15 years, the Sword of Power leads Prince Adam (Nicholas Galitzine) back to Eternia, where he discovers his home shattered under the fiendish rule of Skeletor (Jared Leto). To save his family and his world, Adam must join forces with his closest allies, Teela (Camila Mendes) and Duncan/Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba), and embrace his true destiny as He-Man — the most powerful man in the universe.
Knight helms the film based on a screenplay by Chris Butler, Aaron Nee, Adam Nee, and Dave Callaham. Nee co-wrote the story along with Adam Nee, Alex Litvak, and Michael Finch. Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Robbie Brenner, Steve Tisch, and DeVon Franklin serve as the producers, while Ynon Kreiz, Bill Bannerman, and David Bloomfield round up the list of EPs. The film marks the franchise's third time on the big screen.
Earlier, Galitzine shed light on the film in an interview with THR. "I have, yeah. Look, what I will say is our version is quite different from the original animation, which we all agree was camp within its own right and worked so well for the time. But there’s been a couple of iterations, obviously, since there was the ‘Revelation’ version of Master of the Universe, and the comics themselves."
'Masters of the Universe' releases on June 5, 2026, in cinemas.
