Alongside Galitzine is an immensely talented ensemble featuring Camila Mendes, Alison Brie, James Purefoy, Morena Baccarin, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, and Charlotte Riley, alongside Kristen Wiig as the voice of Roboto, with Jared Leto and Idris Elba.
The trailer opens with the voiceover as a TV screen takes fans back to the 80s, featuring commercials of Floppy discs, breakfast cereal, and a dose of Sunday morning cartoons. The scene then switches to Galitzine looking at the Sword of Power in awe, as the mystical weapon allows him to call upon the power of Grayskull and transform into He-Man, the most powerful being in the universe. The teaser also looks at the world of Eternia, as well as Idris Elba's Man-at-Arms, warrior Teela (Camila Mendes), Battle Cat, and Roboto (Kristen Wiig).
The official plot reads: After being separated for 15 years, the Sword of Power leads Prince Adam (Nicholas Galitzine) back to Eternia, where he discovers his home shattered under the fiendish rule of Skeletor (Jared Leto). To save his family and his world, Adam must join forces with his closest allies, Teela (Camila Mendes) and Duncan/Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba), and embrace his true destiny as He-Man — the most powerful man in the universe.
'Masters of the Universe' is helmed by Travis Knight, based on a screenplay by Chris Butler, Aaron Nee, Adam Nee, and Dave Callaham. Nee wrote the story along with Adam Nee, Alex Litvak, and Michael Finch. Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Robbie Brenner, Steve Tisch, and DeVon Franklin serve as the producers, while Ynon Kreiz, Bill Bannerman, and David Bloomfield round up the list of EPs. The film marks the franchise's third time on the big screen.
Previously, Galitzine previewed the film in an interview with THR. "I have, yeah. Look, what I will say is our version is quite different from the original animation, which we all agree was camp within its own right and worked so well for the time. But there’s been a couple of iterations, obviously, since there was the ‘Revelation’ version of Master of the Universe, and the comics themselves."
"And we’re very much treating our script as a Bible, you know. But it’s kind of amazing to hear what this show meant to a lot of people. It was really formative for a lot of people, so it’s exciting to do something that will have a nostalgia element as well as hopefully attract a bunch of new fans."
'Masters of the Universe' releases June 5, 2026, in cinemas.
