LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight’ Trilogy is considered to be one of the greatest film trilogies of all time and its success can be seen in the way the franchise has managed to create an impact on the superhero genre. Over the years, a lot of actors have been praising the trilogy for superlative content, and joining the bandwagon is Marvel’s Kang the Conqueror himself, Jonathan Majors. The star, who is set to become an integral part of Marvel’s next phase, couldn’t stop praising Nolan’s Batman universe for “challenging” the audience in a lot of interesting ways.

‘The Dark Knight’ trilogy started in 2005 with ‘Batman Begins’ and the comic-book character made a successful return to the big screen. The movie, directed by Christopher Nolan, spawned two sequels – ‘The Dark Knight’ and ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ – that were equally praised by critics as well as audiences. Even though the trilogy ended in 2012, the trilogy still stands tall after more than a decade and Majors feel the same about it. However, it was ‘The Dark Knight’ that took the franchise to a whole new level and set a benchmark for how superhero movies should be made.

In a lengthy letter written about the importance of ‘The Dark Knight’ in today’s world, Majors wrote that the second movie in Nolan’s ‘Batman’ universe is one of those rare superhero movies “entertains at the highest cinematic rung while simultaneously challenging its audience” with each frame. As per the actor, the movie also “incites debate” in people’s imaginations and creates a conversation that’s reflective of today’s world.

“Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight" is one of those rare films that entertain at the highest cinematic rung while simultaneously challenging its audience with each frame to reach higher in their own self and social knowledge, teasing our retinas with color palettes and patterns that prescribe meaning, and incites debate in our imaginations and the collective subconscious,” Majors wrote.

In his essay, the actor also noted that the movie has stood the test of time because of how it shows the fact that “life and people are beautifully complicated and evolving.” He added, “And the film asks what it is to be human, what it is to be alive and to participate fully in one's own living. ‘The Dark Knight’ etches so vividly the agnostic morality of survival and the discipline of goodness. Nolan's second installment of the "Dark Knight" trilogy holds in its runtime an impregnable truth: Life and people are beautifully complicated and evolving. It is this fact that has allowed ‘The Dark Knight’ to stand up and stand out all these many years later.”

Majors will be seen playing the role of He Who Remains, aka Kang the Conquerer, in the upcoming phase of Marvel and will make its feature film debut with ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’. Viewers got to see the character for the first time in the final episode of ‘Loki’ Season 1 who explained to Loki and Sylvie how one of his variants managed to create all the timelines and set up TVA to guard those timelines.

As far as ‘The Dark Knight’ is concerned, the movie primarily focuses on Bruce Wayne, aka Batman (Christian Bale), going against his nemesis and the biggest villain of the Batman universe, Joker (Heath Ledger). The Clown Prince of Gotham takes Batman to the edge to wreak havoc in Gotham City, claiming that the city needs better criminals. The 2008 movie turned out to be a blockbuster hit and received universal acclaim from critics as well as audiences. It was also the first superhero movie ever to cross the $1 billion mark at the global box office. The film went on to receive 8 nominations at the Academy Awards, including a Best Supporting Actor nod for Heath Ledger. Although the actor won the accolade, he wasn’t able to see the happiest moment of his career as he died before the release of the movie due to an accidental overdose of medications.

Since then, a lot of superhero movies have come and gone, but ‘The Dark Knight’ still remains the best movie in the genre in terms of storytelling and epic sequences.
