While the pair began their romance after nearly a decade of knowing each other and have both always shared a mutual admiration. In fact, Carey's ex-fiance Packer was reportedly jealous of the duo's chemistry which was very evident during stage performances on tour.
As per reports, Packer had also banned Tanaka from the Caesars Palace show after Carey gave the professional dancer a lap dance to fix his foot injury as a joke. "That moment when I got to go on stage for a second, it was a special moment in time for Mariah and myself. I felt like no one really understood what I was going through and just to get that little extra love from Mariah… I'm not gonna lie it made me feel a lot better," Tanaka recalled.
