While there is a long time left for the movie to release, here's everything you need to know about the live-action movie of Barbie.
UPDATED JUL 26, 2019

Over the years, we've seen Barbie as a nurse, scientist, director, and even president. But now, she is all set to add a new title to her resume, a Hollywood actress.

Yes, you've read that right, Barbie is coming to life on the big screen. Earlier this year it was revealed that there was a collaboration between Warner Bros. and Mattel (the makers of Barbie). The movie doesn't have a name allocated to it but is scheduled to release sometime in 2020.

While there is a long time left for the movie to release, here's everything you need to know about the Barbie live-action movie.

Release date

There is no tentative release date revealed for the movie, but according to IMDb, the movie is scheduled to release sometime in 2020.

Plot

The official plot of the movie is yet to be known, but according to IMDb, the plot of the movie revolves around Barbie being expelled from 'Barbieland' for not being perfect enough. So she sets off on an adventure in the real world. It is not surprising that the movie is trying to come up with a new plot because of the flak it has received all over the years for it being too high with its beauty standards. And with someone like Margot Robbie playing the role, the movie is sure to set a good impact on kids.

Cast

As of now, we do know that 'Suicide Squad' actress Margot Robbie will be playing the lead role of Barbie. Earlier it was revealed that actress Amy Schumer will be playing the role of Barbie, but recently it was unveiled that Robbie will be playing the role of Barbie after Schumer dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. The other cast roles have not yet been revealed, and we are eager to see who will be playing the role of Ken.

Writer

Actress-turned-director Greta Gerwig and her Ken, Noah Baumbach have been signed to create the script for the movie. The couple have worked on other movies together that turned out to be a success. They worked on projects like Frances Ha and Mistress America. The live-action Barbie movie will be the first big venture for the couple. And we can't wait to see how it turns out.

Trailer

There is no trailer released for the movie yet, and we can't wait to see what it reveals. Be sure to check out this space, as we will update the information once it is released.
