'MacGyver' Season 4 Episode 11 Preview: Will Mac break Merchant or will he be swayed to join Codex's mission?
'MacGyver' Season 4 is all set to return with yet another whopper of an episode. This time, we will see the return of James Callis as the elusive Merchant, a top operative of Codex who was disavowed by the organization the last time we saw him and has apparently been captured by the Phoenix Foundation since then.
Episode 11 'Psy-Op + Cell + Merchant + Birds' will see Angus 'Mac' MacGyver (Lucas Till) attempting to get information out of the Merchant using psyops tactics, we are assuming with some guidance from Russ Taylor (Henry Ian Cusick). Of course, there's also the danger that the whole thing might backfire, especially since Mac has clearly been having second thoughts about Codex and their mission.
In the last episode, we saw that some part of Mac does believe Codex might be right to sacrifice part of the human population to save the world at large. We saw this aspect of Mac manifest as an evil twin inside his mind and the episode ended with him hallucinating Evil Mac in real life.
In 'Psy-Op + Cell + Merchant + Birds', Mac is going to be placed in a fake prison cell with Merchant. While his goal might be to manipulate the Codex operative into spilling the organization's secrets, there's a pretty good chance Merchant might actually manage to sway Mac over to his side. Whether Mac can resist the temptation or not, we will just have to wait and see.
The cast of 'MacGyver' Season 4 includes Lucas Till as Angus 'Mac' MacGyver, Tristin Mays as Riley Davis, Justin Hires as Wilt Bozer, Meredith Eaton as Matty Weber, Levy Tran as Desi Nguyen and Henry Ian Cusick as Russ Taylor. Guest stars for the episode include James Callis, Amber Skye Noyes, Ming Lo and Adele Drahos.
The episode was directed by Ericson Core with a script penned by Cindy Appel and Andrew Karlsruher. Stephanie Hicks provided the story for the episode.
