Brenda also went for a laid-back appearance, wearing a white T-shirt, blue trousers and white sneakers. The former ‘Suite Life of Zack and Cody’ actor wore her hair free around her shoulders and accessorized with a gray blazer.
‘We don't hire a nanny’
According to insiders, Macaulay and Brenda quietly welcomed baby number two before Christmas. The pregnancy was kept under wraps until it was revealed it in mid-May through insiders. The couple had their first child, Dakota Song Culkin, on April 5, 2021, while keeping her pregnancy a secret. They did not publicize her pregnancy, only announcing it after she had given birth.
During an interview with The Cut last year, Brenda claimed that she and Macaulay don't have a babysitter and that their parenting approach is "very hands-on."
"My fiance and I are pretty hands-on," the actress explained. "We don't hire a nanny, but my mother has been caring for my baby since he was born.” She added, "When I was working, my mom would bring [my son] to set so I could breastfeed and see him during the day."
‘Make sure you have help’
The actress returned to work on her Hulu series ‘Dollface’ to film season two, 12 weeks after giving birth. According to the former Disney actress, "They teach you a lot about labor and pregnancy, but not about the fourth trimester. To my girlfriends that are pregnant I say, make sure you have help. Because your instinct is to want to do it all and you physically can't."
Brenda said she used to always be on set early but coming back "after the baby was harder than I thought." The actress continued explaining, “I pride myself on always being first on set. So to be like, 'Hey, I need 20 minutes to pump' was difficult."
‘It hurts me to miss those hours with my newborn’
While her mother was caring for her kid while she worked, she said that 'the hours away' from him 'had a toll on me.' "Learning my own boundaries while trying to take care of my son and my family - that was hard. But I had a great support system and I knew my son was taken care of. I was basically suffering from FOMO."
Brenda revealed, “It hurts me to miss those hours with my newborn boy, but at the end of the day, Mama has to put food on the table. You must make compromises. Hopefully, he'll get it." After meeting on the set of the film 'Changeland' in June 2017, Macaulay and Brenda started dating. Their engagement news was disclosed in January 2022 after almost four years of dating.
