‘Home Alone’ star Macaulay Culkin’s birthday tweet reminding his followers he’s now 40 met with ‘90s nostalgia
Star Macaulay Culkin just turned 40 on August 26. And he isn't letting anyone forget about it. He tweeted: "Hey guys, wanna feel old? I'm 40. You're welcome," poking fun at his own legacy as a pop culture icon of the 90s.
Culkin became a household name because of the 'Home Alone' movies, which were a staple for kids growing up in the '90s, and was also featured on Michael Jackson's 1991 'Black or White' video. He was just 10 when 'Home Alone' came out in 1990, 30 years ago.
His tweet racked up more than 415,000 likes in minutes and was retweeted more than 90,000 times. Comments on his tweet ranged from sarcastic to commiserative. One tweet said: "You should get blocked for this. This is assault of some kind..." about Culkin's reminder to all '90s kids about how old they all were.

Nostalgia was in the air for most people on the thread, remembering when they saw the first 'Home Alone' movie. "Sh*t! Home Alone was the 2nd ever movie I saw in the cinema as a kid. Thanks for the nostalgia AND making me feel old indeed," said one user.

Others retaliated with age salvos of their own. One user remarked: "first of all, happy birthday. second...f**k off, with all due respect. third (that is if YOU wanna feel old): you're the same age as George Clooney in Ocean's Eleven. cheers, kevin."
first of all, happy birthday.

cheers, kevin ;)
Others commented about how 2020 itself was aging us all more rapidly than expected, like this one: "I've aged 10 years alone this year."

Comments on the tweet also showed that age, after all, is just a number and quite a relative one at that. A user pointed out, "Sean Connery is 90. Is that better?" to help cheer Culkin up about hitting the big four O.
Others pitched new 'Home Alone' scripts with Culkin appearing as an older Kevin as a father. "O think there should be a new home alone with you helping your son to beat the bad guys. u'll appear in the end, like Batman, when everything seems lost. then BANG, a bowling ball hits the bad guys and u save the day," said one tweet.

Other storylines were a lot darker like this one, "Idea for a new Home Alone movie: Kevin Mccallister is a 40 year old going thru mid life crisis, his wife and kids leave him and he is home alone as burglar's break in his house..."

His birthday did not go unnoticed by his celeb pals. Actor Zach Braf "liked" his tweet, while earlier goddaughter Paris Jackson shared several flashback photos while Sarah Michelle Gellar wished the actor well as she looked back on their friendship. "'I've known you too many years to count but damn you are like a fine wine (although you would prob want to be a Mountain Dew)," she said on Instagram with a photo of them together.
Fans wanting to see him onscreen again will have to wait till the forthcoming Season 10 of 'American Horror Story', tentatively airing next year, where he has been cast in an “insane part” which involves “crazy, erotic sex” with Kathy Bates, among other things according to show creator Ryan Murphy, who is also a fan of Culkin's 'Home Alone' franchise.
