Lil Peep's highly impactful and influential 2016 mixtape, 'Hellboy', which was earlier only available on SoundCloud, has been released on all major streaming platforms exactly four years after it first dropped. Making the official announcement, the Lil Peep Twitter page simply tweeted, "HELLBOY OUT NOW."

Peep, who passed away tragically at the young age of 21 due to an accidental drug overdose, was a central figure in the emo rap scene and — along with XXXTentacion and Juice WRLD, both of whom are also dead – pushed "sad rap" into the mainstream. 'Hellboy' was particularly influential being ranked as one of the best albums of the 2010s by Pitchfork with executive editor Matthew Schnipper writing, "Lil Peep's music assures you that you're not alone – and if you haven’t, he gives you a glimpse of what that suffering feels like."

Due to depressing lyrics that talk about suicide, insecurities, grief and loss of love, 'Hellboy' received a great deal of mainstream media attention. The New Yorker, for instance, wrote about the rise of 'sad rap' to mainstream prominence mentioning Peep's 'Hellboy' track 'OMFG' calling it "a standout on his mixtape". The article quoted the lyrics of the song too: "I used to wanna kill myself / Came up, still wanna kill myself / My life is goin' nowhere / I want everyone to know that I don’t care."

Reacting to the mixtape's release on all major streaming platforms, a fan tweeted, "Also 4 years ago today, Lil Peep dropped 'Hellboy'...def my fav project by him. It's out on streaming services today. So listen to it," while another excitedly said, "Yasssssss finally issa Lil Peep day for me streaming hellboy tuhday." More excited fans chimed in as another wrote, "Yo all of the full 16 tracks off Lil Peep's 'Hellboy' got cleared and made it streaming!!! Yes!!!!"

I love how Peep is getting more and more recognition. I love you gus and I miss you so f**king much, we'll always continue your legacy and keep your energy alive," while another wrote, "No one talk to me. They re-released 'Hellboy' by Lil Peep. I will be taking this time to myself to cry."

One Peep fan simply said, "Happy to see 'Hellboy' by Lil Peep on streaming platforms, such a great album," while another, thanking Peep aka Gustav Åhr, tweeted, "this mixtape saved my f**king life so many times, thank you and I love you so much, rest in peace Gustav Åhr."
