‘Love & Hip Hop: Miami’: Amara’s mother discourages her from meeting her father, fans say she's being 'toxic'
Amara La Negra’s life is currently like a roller-coaster ride. Between planning her concert and managing all the logistics by herself after firing her manager Julian Boothe, she sure has a lot on her plate. On the latest episode of ‘Love & Hip Hop: Miami’ star reveals that her father reached out to her wanting to reconnect with her.
When Amara asks her mother for advice she didn’t receive the response she hoped for. Amara’s mother gets upset and furious with her daughter on learning the news and warns her to never meet him. She, in fact, digs up an old incident to paint Amara’s father in aa poor light to drive home the point that he can’t be relied upon. Amara’s mother reveals that when she asked him to support her with raising Amara, he reportedly asked her to go on welfare to get help with raising Amara.
She also begins questioning Amara’s father’s motives to meet his daughter after so many years, when she is famous, instead of trying to reconnect with her earlier when he had several opportunities. Although Amara looked upset on hearing her mother’s harsh words about her father, she eventually decided to meet her father and hear his side of the story and express to him how his absence from her life affected her.

While fans were happy to see Amara and her father working towards fixing their relationship, they were unha[[y with her mother for not allowing her to make her own decisions in life. A fan tweeted, “If Amara wants to establish a relationship, with her father why is her mama making it a big deal? Let that girl see who her father is on her own. #LHHMIA.” Another fan wrote, “Amara's mother needs to let her make the decision whether she wants to be in her father's life or not I feel once a child is grown its their decision🤷 #LHHMIA.”
“I can understand how Amara’s mother feels. However, she shouldn’t make Amara feel like she’s doing something wrong for wanting a relationship with her father... it’s unfair and damaging to be honest #LHHMIA,” expressed a fan. Another fan pointed out, “#LHHMIA Why would her mother get angry with Amara for wanting to establish what the relationship between her and her father is? That's toxic parenting. YOU PICKED HIM MOM! LET'S NOT FORGET THAT!”
