Kim Taehyung honored for sincere tax payment, BTS fans say 'model citizen V'

BTS' V aka Kim Taehyung was awarded by Goyang City for his contribution to the welfare of his city

GOYANG, SOUTH KOREA: BTS’ V aka Kim Taehyung is being praised as a model citizen for his exemplary behavior from sincerely paying all of his taxes to contributing to the welfare of his city Goyang. On September 1, it was announced that Goyang City had awarded eight citizens a plaque of merit for faithfully paying the local taxes which in turn had helped expand the city’s financial stability. Five of the plaques were given to corporations while three were given to individuals out of which one was the K-pop idol.

As a country that prides discipline, South Korea often rewards their citizens by acknowledging their loyalty to the development of their country in any which way possible. And K-pop idols are no different as we have the likes of Ateez’s San being appointed as Namhae’s ambassador and 2PM’s Taecyeon being awarded for his exemplary military service. And now BTS’ V has made his city proud with the mayor honoring him for his sincere tax payment and contribution.

BTS’ V awarded for sincere tax payment

Kim Taehyung’s father represented his son as he attended the awards ceremony and accepted the plaque of merit on behalf of the BTS star. Mayor Lee Donghwan shared, “The driving force behind Goyang is the taxes paid by conscientious taxpayers. We will establish a culture where conscientious taxpayers are treated preferentially.” Those who not only pay their local taxes but also end up exceeding a certain amount in the last 3 years are awarded for their loyalty. V’s sincere attitude had BTS fans and non-fans praising him.

‘V is cool’

With several celebrities often being in the news for tax evasion, Knetz made comments like, “We need to congratulate good taxpayers. V is cool,” and “I see a lot of people here saying how it's an obvious thing to do... I think we should praise everyone who pays their taxes diligently !” One ARMY tweeted, “Taehyung has been awarded a special commendation plaque by the Mayor of Goyang City as he contributed to the city's financial expansion by faithfully paying local taxes. He is one of the only 3 individuals awarded 🥰MODEL CITIZEN V.”

One fan threw shade, “Meanwhile there's some politicians out there...................... :).” Another ARMY was proud, “Despite his schedule, Taehyung never forgets the things that matter. Spends time with his family, learned golf to play with his dad, makes time to support his friends and being a responsible citizen not just by paying taxes but also advocating for good causes.
